To make this prediction, the accessory considers the local barometric pressure as well as if and how quickly this has changed over the past few hours. On that device, users needed to press a button to toggle between temperature and humidity on the screen. Which you can then read with one of a range of apps and does everything such as rainfall, UV as well as all the more expensive Eve or Netatmo products. Based in Columbus, Ohio, Andrew O'Hara has spent the last eight years embedded in all aspects of the digital space from leading digital marketing teams to front-end web development and design.

A quick glance at Eve Weather, and you know exactly what’s going on with the weather at your location – just like a regular weather station – but as Eve Weather records all its datasets, you can look back in time to see how today stacks up to previous days. This means it can withstand rainfall, but I would not recommend submerging this in water for any period. The Eve Weather, introduced earlier this year, is Eve's newest weather sensor, and it's ideal for keeping an eye on the temperature and weather conditions right outside of your home. With Eve Weather, you can track your current outdoor temperature, humidity and barometric pressure, and see the weather trend at a glance — on your iPhone or directly on the display. If the weather is frosty, she has her living-room lamp light up to remind her to leave earlier scraping ice off her windshield. With IPX3 water resistance, the Elgato Eve Weather is splash-proof and therefore suitable for outdoor use. If you want an outdoor weather monitoring solution that can be accessed anytime indoors or when you're away from home (when paired with a home hub like a HomePod or iPad), the Eve Weather is worth checking out. Just by glancing at the temperature data right outside her front door, she can tell as soon as things start to cool down in summer or slowly warm up in winter. I sometimes keep and continue to use these products that I did not pay for after posting my review, which might be considered a form of compensation for my review, but I do not believe that I let that color my review.

So when using the previous generation device, the Eve Degree, I would have to be fairly close to the device with my iPhone to connect. Eve Weather features a sleek, IPX4 water resistant design, and future-proof Thread network technology. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.

With Thread, Eve Weather is able to better communicate with a smart home setup, plus it saves battery life. It looks modern and sleek and will likely fit with any aesthetic from "urban farmhouse" to "Soho chic. The Eve Degree was an improvement because it was smaller and it displayed the temperature right on the front of the device, making it possible to learn the temperature without having to open an app on an iPhone.

Turning on the lights (trough Eve Energy, smart bulbs, smart switches) when it's going to be cloudy or start raining (because less sunlight will be there)?

Just like when using an app, you have lightning-fast access to the information you need when you need it – all without you having to share your location with third parties clouded in mystery. The display just keeps flashing between the temperature measurements and the “HI” message on screen. And if you want to use the weather at your home to trigger HomeKit automations, the Eve Weather can help you do that as well. The Eve Weather has a CR2450 replaceable battery that's supposed to last for around a year, so it shouldn't need much maintenance other than a battery change every 12 months or so.
