Description

Words for Life is created by the National Literacy Trust and supported by UK publishers with funding for its creation from the DfE and Kindred 2. Little owl is the only character in the book and thestorystarts by explaining that owls stayawake during thenight before it introduces little owl’s very ‘un-owl-like’ behaviour. Throughout the day little owlsees seven different colours, some in the sky, some in the trees and flowers but also when it gets dark. A great way to introduce colours. Very different to the normal 'colour' learning books. Also children can join in with saying ''WOW' said the owl.' Rainbows: Paint or draw a rainbow. Talk about each colour as you use it. You might like to display this in your window. At night, when we are feeling tired and ready for bed, owls are just waking up. But one curious little owl decides to stay awake all day, instead of all night, and discovers a world bursting with colour! Yet when the night-time comes around again, the stars above her head are still the most beautiful of all.

Wow! Said the Owl tells the story of a curious owl who stays awake all day instead of having her usual sleep. Read or watch the story with your child and try the activities below. They will help your child to explore colours and understand the difference between night and day. WOW! Said the Owl is the bestselling board book about colours by Tim Hopgood, winner of the Best Emerging Illustrator, Booktrust Early Years Award. But despite the beauty of the daytime world, the little owl decides that the night-time stars are the most beautiful of all. really enjoy reading this to my little girl, she giggles whenever i say "WOW said the owl" a lovely bedtime story From the warm pink glow of dawn through to a day filled with the bright colours of green leaves, blue sky, grey clouds and, finally, a stunning rainbow — ‘WOW!’. When it comes to accommodation in Scotland, there's a fantastic choice of amazing stays from luxury hotels to glamping getaways. In this category you will find recommendations written by authors and illustrators along with books that they have written and / or illustrated. One morning in a farmyard a spider begins to spin a web. All the animals try to persuade her to stop but she doesn't answer any of them; she is too busy spinning her web. Secondary Year 6 leavers - Covid-safe transition activities and ideas It's been a chaotic year but Year 6 children still deserve the best ending to their primary journey

A lovely bedtime story which also makes a great addition to a foundation / key stage one classroom library. As you are reading the story together, encourage your child to join in with repeated parts of the story: “Wow! Said the owl.” Mummy and Ellie-Lara bot love sharing this book. Its a great book to explore colours and wildlife. We loved the repeating phrase..."Wow" could be one of our first words!Loved this book about the owl who stayed awake all day and saw the beauties of creation as the colours changed from pink dawn to dark night. Helps children learn to recognise colours while being enchanted with the story. I liked this book as it had a nice story to it whilst also providing a clear range of colours for baby to look at. The colours are mainly pastel which is a nice contrast to most childrens books. Useful that they also use the correct colour names rather than 'purple' to expand their knowledge and vocabulary. But despite the beauty of the daytime world, the little owl decides that the night-time stars are the most beautiful of all. WOW! Said the Owl is a touring exhibition for under-fives and their families, designed by Tim Hopgood and organised by The Young Art Explorers Association, with thanks to Arts Council England and Macmillan Children’s Books.
