Serial connection: add "Max upgrade baud" to Connect Setting. Default is 115200. App will not attempt to upgrade to a baud above this value. This does not affect baud detection at connection.

All in all, another 120€, for a grand total of 250€ and a net extra budget with respect to the Star Adventurer Pro 2i of 130€. The Blue Horsehead Nebula captured using the Star Adventurer GTi and Radian 61. (2.5 hours exposure) Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi Manually adjusting the alt/az bolts on the mount to line up Polaris in the correct spot only takes a minute. This skill will come in handy the next time you set up in a new, dark sky location with minimal gear (trust me).

Polar Alignment Process

If you already own a Sky-Watcher mount like the Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro, you could connect your existing SynScan hand controller to the mount head and control it like your EQ6-R. The free movement in right ascension is often stiffer than that in the Star Adventurer, making it difficult to achieve a good balance; While I am a hard-core fan of the Star Adventurer, I have to admit that the Az-GTI is today a better choice for starting with astrophotography, and I would advise you to get that over the Star Adventurer PRO. Some Az-GTI Pros: We also measure the Power with our systems which is essentially the error from the reference sphere to the test optic. The reference sphere we use on our system is a very high quality sphere so the closer to zero the Power, the less error between the 2 elements thus ensuring a higher quality optical surface. With the Az-GTI is difficult to get things precise for manual polar alignment so if you don’t want to go down the (more costly) road of electronically assisted polar alignment, the Star Adventurer offer a better and more precise polar alignment out of the box.

To get the most out of the Az-GTI for deep sky astrophotography, you should use a fully computerized setup, such as the ZWO ASIAIR PRO, the Stellarmate, or a computer. While you will benefit from these systems with a Star Adventurer too, at least for guiding, with the Az-GTI it is almost “mandatory” to go down that route and the theoretical initial 130€ extra budget we calculated before is much more likely to increase dramatically; Once the Zygo test report has been completed, the optical alignment is thoroughly tested and tuned to ensure they are spot on before they leave us.To connect the mount to the ASIAIR for mount control (and autoguiding) you need this cable. You may find a similar option available online through one of the many astrophotography equipment vendors, but this is the exact one I use. With its 11-pound payload capacity, Star Adventurer is well-equipped to handle your DLSR or mirrorless camera sporting a wide-angle or telephoto lens plus accessories, a small aperture astrograph with a dedicated astro camera, or even small OTA’s such as our Skymax series of Maksutov-Cassegrain telescopes perfect for deep space objects, the Moon, and planets.
