The overriding impression is of the great warmth with which 2000AD is held by everyone present. "I’m a little younger than the comic by about half a year," writer Al Ewing says, "but over the years it sort of grew up a little bit as I was becoming a teenager, it grew up alongside me. It sounds a bit corny but we’re all here to celebrate the fortieth birthday of an old friend." There’s another alternate way of having Dredd’s face be shown, and one that will greatly alter the strip.

So now we look forward to Dredd, due out next year, with Karl Urban in the lead role. This time around I’m not going to expect too much, in the hope that I’ll be pleasantly surprised, and finally see a big screen adaptation of Old Stoney Face’s adventures that will go some way to living up to the peerless standards of the very best Judge Dredd stories. Taking its cue from the science-fiction and action films of the 70s, the writers and artists of 2000AD brought an imaginative, occasionally satirical, edge to their strips that continues to this day. While the mass-market comics business of the late 70s might have long since vanished, 2000AD has endured, thanks in part to a constantly changing roster of stories and talent. Many of the biggest names in the comics business, from Alan Moore to Neil Gaiman, got their start on what is affectionately known as ‘the Prog.’ Now you will fill in the edge with hot glue.. use the nozzle o the glue gun to get it as smooth as possible. Then you will use some comic cardboard scraps and use it like sandpaper on the glue. Just go fast and apply so pressure and it should smooth over fairly well. do this for both sides of the gun. Plus, when adapting a book or comic, those filmmakers who recognise and include all of the things that work about the source material often go on to create movies that are deeper, richer and more believable, and are therefore easier for an audience to emotionally invest in and enjoy.

In that time, the comic book sub-genre has risen to lofty new heights, with stunning adaptations such as Christopher Nolan’s Batman, Bryan Singer’s X-Men, and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films, against which Judge Dredd now looks very old hat indeed. But even if you ignore such retrospective comparisons, the main reason the film looks decidedly average now is because it was decidedly average then.

We should be clear that being less harsh doesn’t mean he’s not a bastard. 2000AD, especially under John Wagner’s pen, has a lot of hard bastards in it – Johnny Alpha of Strontium Dog, Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s other big creation, has always been more expressive but his expressions are mostly stoic or enraged, and he is capable of acts of cruelty and anger. Dredd would likely be closer to this, being an extremely tough cop rather than a symbol of fascist authority.

But when Pat Mills was planning the story “The Blood of Satanus” in 1980, he originally planned for the woman at the centre of the story to be Dredd’s ex-girlfriend! Thrill-Power Overload records that Alan Grant, working as the sub-editor at the time, showed the script to John Wagner as he felt the romance clashed with Wagner’s take on the character – “he did not want it to happen” and so Grant heavily edited parts of the script. However, before he departed, he’d been assigned two other early strips, and a reprint of the comic’s ledger in Mega-History shows this was based on whoever was available. As a result, Ezquerra could have possibly drawn Dredd’s face in prog 8.

The movie's name is DREDD so the costume designer, Michael O'Connor, got approval on the design of Judge Dredd's costume first, before moving on to the other Judge Costumes. This means Judge Dredd's costume is the Standard. All other Judge costumes are based around Dredd's look. The links in the navigation bar above go into detail on all the parts of a Judge's costume.

Another problem that was never resolved, and one alluded to by Stallone, was the movie’s tone. Gritty vision of a nightmare dystopia, or bright and colourful comic book romp? At times, it appears to be attempting both, and succeeding at neither. It’s possible that Stallone had more to do with this than he’s willing to let on, due to his eagerness for the film to obtain a PG-13 rating, and avoid the R rating that would alienate what he saw as a huge part of the film’s core audience (it got an R anyway). Although Judge Dredd: Mega-City One is apparently still in the early stages of development, comic book readers have already been treated to an official Dredd sequel. In 2018, 2000 AD released Dredd: Final Judgement, a two-part miniseries set in the same universe as the movie. Produced by Arthur Wyatt, Alex De Campi, and Henry Flint, Final Judgement functioned as a direct follow-up to Dredd and finally realized Garland's vision of pitting Urban's law enforcer against the Dark Judges. For the nozzle of the gun, i used some PVC, cut out the front of the gun and glued in about a 1.5 inch piece. I think, from what I recall, the whole project was troubled from the beginning. The philosophy of the film was not set in stone – by that I mean, ‘Is this going to be a serious drama or with comic overtones’, like other science fiction films that were successful? So a lotta pieces just didn’t fit smoothly. It was sort of like a feathered fish. Some of the design work on it was fantastic, and the sets were incredibly real, even standing two feet away, but there was just no communication.” The eagle is somewhat complicated.. since you have your paper template, start to draw the symbol on it. the eagle wings took 3 different layers of craft foam to complete. (pic 4 +5)

It was Spanish artist Carlos Ezquerra who breathed life into Dredd with his startling design for the lawman’s uniform

If you dont want to do this, you will have to make a solution of elmers glue and water.. just keep adding layers and layers of the solution on it to create a "glue shell".
