LED indicator: Having an indicator that tells you whether your battery is full or empty is highly useful.

We have been most disappointed by the Waterpik Sonic-Fusion. Admittedly this is a hybrid product, rather than a standalone water flosser. It combines an electric toothbrush and water flosser to create a flossing toothbrush. Having a variety of easy-to-use pressure settings is another key consideration. It is important to be able to change the pressure, to a lower setting, if you have sensitive teeth or gums. Sink access: you need to be lent over a sink, even with a cordless, due to the amount of water that needs to be expelled during use.

What are the benefits of water flossers?

Suitable for traveling: It comes with a travel bag and tip storage case. It is worldwide voltage compatible (100 240 vac, 60/50 Hz). When the flosser is turned on, the pump takes the water out of the reservoir and feeds it into the user's mouth through a tube at the top of the flosser. It uses a strong water jet to drive plaque and germs away from the teeth and gums. For many people, flossing with a stream of water is smoother, less abrasive, and more comfortable, and helpful if you have periodontal disease. The WP-660 is fairly compact with hose storage to keep things neat, although there is no place to store any excess power cable. It actually has a smaller profile than you might imagine and although it’s bulky, it doesn’t feel as dominant on a countertop as you might expect It is the case too that Waterpik has a wider array of nozzle styles to suit specific users’ needs which may be advantageous, as Philips offers a much more limited range.

The Ultra Professional WP-660 has all of the essential features we look for in a water flosser. It is a suitable option whether you are taking proactive steps to clean interdentally, have periodontal disease or if you’re recovering from oral surgery. However, this does not rule out the possibility of an issue with the WP-560's charging status. In fact, the battery is the most frequent main complaint regarding the Waterpik Cordless Advanced WP-560, both in terms of use and dependability.Size: even the most compact cordless water flosser isn’t as travel friendly as a reel of traditional floss. This Waterpik cordless model does a supremely thorough job of cleaning between the gums and ridding them of unwanted bacteria. While it’s a fairly chunky beast to wrap your mitts around, refilling and charging the thing is easy enough – with a top-up from the tap delivering about 45 seconds of flossing time. Also included is a rechargeable battery, along with a handy array of four tips for interdental cleaning, including an orthodontic tip for braces should you be embracing the Invisalign life right now. Other tips include a standard jet tip for everyday use, along with a plaque-seeker tip for targeting pesky areas. There's even a tongue-cleaner tip if you're really after a thorough, full-mouth clean. Again similar, there are some differences in the button design and placement as well as grips and other overall aesthetics of the flosser. Just consider the following scenario: You use your Waterpik Cordless Advanced water flosser before going to bed. You realize that the battery is going to run out. So, how do you go about it? If you plug in the charger before going to bed, it will charge for 4 hours and then overcharge. But it may be fully depleted by the morning if you do not recharge it.

Water tank size/pressure settings: each flossing session is limited to the size of the water tank and the pressure setting selected. You may have to refill the tank multiple times to complete the clean. The quad stream tip is also a bit more specialised in that it pushes the water out in an X formation, rather than the standard jet. But, it can be used by anyone, rather than being designed with a specific user in mind. We’ve found countertop models slightly more comfortable to use. They also have larger water reservoirs, meaning they have longer cleaning times and need to be refilled less often. They often come with extra features, such as extra pressure settings or a built-in timer. The nozzle can be rotated to help reach all areas of the mouth. But we found it much more difficult to rotate than the WP-560, particularly when in use. The 4-hour rapid charge is actually a disadvantage in this case, and an 8-hour charging time would be more practical.
