It’s pretty straightforward if you have a normal, healthy, regular 28-day menstrual cycle, but there are so many reasons that may not be the case. Use your natural desire to connect with others at this time. Go live! Make Reels! Record IGTV’s! Engage! Send DM’s to other accounts for collaborations. This is the time to cross-pollinate!

Kate: I literally… I’m quite simple when it comes to the woo. I literally will sit in my car and imagine myself protected in an energetic bubble before I go into that interaction. It takes five seconds. Kate: Right but you know what, here’s the thing and I think a lot of people who watch your show are probably similar in terms of high achieving, they seem like they’ve got it all together, right? And I mean that as a compliment of you and so it’s such a delightful thing. If you were to call me up and ask me for help on something when you have in the past, I’m like, oh my God, how lovely is that? Because to help somebody who also really does have their stuff together, it’s such a compliment. It’s really actually a gift to other people in our lives. When you use the 4 phases you experience each month in concert with your menstrual cycle and/or the moon, social media will become a source of energy instead of a drain of energy.Ask for help early, before you think you’re going to need help. It’s very hard to help somebody who is in the middle of a crisis, and asking for immediate help can cause drama. Marie: Yeah, no and I really loved what you shared too because it’s also about you start that cycle and people will then ask you for help and you can contribute to them and that… From the moment I opened up Do Less, my heart was put at ease. As a new mother, I am so grateful for the road map Kate lays out to make women more happy and full of joy.” Ever since my first book, Money: A Love Story , came out in 2013 I’ve been waiting for the “next big thing” to emerge. The number one thing I’ve heard since making the rounds on all the podcasts and launching Do Less is that people’s minds are blown by the information about cyclical living and how we have this inner blueprint for productivity that no one has ever taught you…until now.

In this episode of MarieTV, we do have some adult language. So if you do have little ones around, grab your headphones now.

Marie: It was really good. The do less filter, I love this. You say, ask yourself, in any area of your life, is there a way I could get the desired result here with fewer action steps or fewer elements or in less time? Curious, concrete example from how this has played out in your own life. I could feel the wave of too much coming at the beginning of the summer. But each time I looked at what we had planned, there wasn’t anything I wanted to take off the schedule. All of it was a “Hell Yes!” The one-of-a-kind time management system that helps you organize your life, your work and the relationship you have with your body so you can truly have more of the life you want by doing less of what’s unnecessary.

It’s a call to a new way of being for all the women (like me) who have found themselves taking on too much and losing themselves and their sanity somewhere along the way. In 2011 I was pregnant with my first child. I had been working as a professor of pharmacy for 9 years and I was the breadwinner. My son almost died in my womb. He was born 5 weeks pre-mature at less than 3 lbs. It was the biggest wake up call of my life. It took a year for me to get the lesson but I ended up leaving the “good” career I didn’t love and went on a soul journey and found my creativity. I never imagined I would be a writer. I always say that I birthed my son but he gave me life as I finally found my passion. And thus, through many mis-steps, joyous ideation, customer service foibles and repairs, and giddy unwrapping moments, The Do Less Planner System was born. If you’ve had questions about how your energy cycles, productivity cycles, and creativity cycles work, I’m 99% sure we covered it in this episode. Kate: Yeah. Early in the book promotion process I was on a podcast and she started off the podcast saying, well, I was very surprised to say that I really loved your book and I was like, okay. And she said, because I assumed, by the title, I was very triggered by the title, and I assumed that what you were going to be talking about was exactly that, hiring a nanny, getting a house cleaner, dah, dah, dah. And she said, I was raised by a single mom who worked three jobs and I was pleasantly surprised and thrilled to see that there’s nothing you wrote about in this book that my mother could not have done. And I wrote it with that in mind because I want people to actually be able to do this and get really good results, not to diminish their results.

I will say yes to the lunch and the coffee date and the joint venture and the interview and the guest post. Because it all sounds fun! And profitable! And exciting! Time can be experienced differently, relative to our perception of it. For example, compare the five minutes you waited for your coffee this morning in line and the five minutes that you held your child for the first time in your arms. As Northrup says, “The five minutes you held your child for the first time in your arms, you were not aware of time. Time stood still. It could have been five minutes, it could have been five hours, it could have been five seconds.” This is a book for working women and mothers who are ready to release the culturally inherited belief that their worth is equal to their productivity, and instead create a personal and professional life that’s based on presence, meaning, and joy. As opposed to focusing on “fitting it all in,” time management, and leaning in, as so many books geared at ambitious women do, this book embraces the notion that through doing less women can have–and be–more.
