It's expensive, but this is a stable, quality work stand that comes with extras like a built-in digital scale and storage bag

On the other side, the model's powder-coated finish is particularly durable. It will be able to resist corrosion in the most humid environment. The stand is heavily built for stability, which is one of the main requirements of many mechanics. Many parts are purposefully overbuilt. If you need to move it, the base plate slides nicely. It lifts "only" 40 kg because we optimized for speed over lifting capacity (gearing of the motor is the limiting factor, the stand itself can easily carry 100 kg+). Not many bikes over 40 kg, but speed you notice every single time. Some mechanics we interviewed even said they sometimes just lift a bike into their electric stand rather than wait. There are generally two types of repair stands: those that use a clamping mechanism there are those that use a clamping mechanism to secure the bike by pretty much any tube you choose to fix them to. Within those categories, there are portable and permanent stands and basic models versus those for the pros. Weight: 6kg | Working height: 1,070-1,800mm | Folded size: 203 x 1,168mm | Max. load: 38.6kg | Rating: 10/10The article went through the e-bike filter because it's not e-bike specific. I know this doesn't mean much coming from me but once you get spoiled with being able to make small height adjustments and having everything at the perfect height you hate using a manual stand for any bike, even a road one. You can ask a mechanic that uses an electric stand if you know one. If you’ve never looked at bike repair stands before, then the first thing that might surprise you are the prices. They're expensive! The rubber paddings will protect your bike's paint, all while keeping your favourite vehicle nice and steady.

There have been several times when working on an ebike that we needed to run the motor on the stand to fully diagnose and fix the ebike. The clamp jaws also have a decent amount of adjustment, so it’ll fit securely around the tubes of most e-bike models. Unfortunately my seatpost is very crowded, and as my bike lives in the workstand when at home, the jaws have worn away the paint on my getting to work bike, not so much on the good bike, less time in there and the front mech cable stops stops her moving. Now, I'm about to get my new bike, and while I'm going to try and not be too precious about her paintjob, I don't want to do something that will hurt her unnecessarily. What would people use to line the jaws to stop this? I've given bit of old latex tubes a go, and that seems good, but there is a bit of rubbery flex. Anything better? I know it's the filth that grinds, so keeping things cleaner will help, but do I have to buy a non work stand for the majority of her sitting in the living room? Also, despite being the cheapest of the full stands that we have reviewed, it’s still robust, well made and folds down easily for transporting and storage. Why it Might Not Work For You If you are interested in hoisting your ebike for maintenance or repair, here are some of the best ebike stands. The micro-adjust clamp is really helpful as it allows you to easily operate it with one-hand. This is a huge bonus when you’re trying to minimize the amount of time you have to hold a heavy e-bike up in the air! Clamp-style stands hold the bike by the seatpost or frame tubes (although clamping the tubing can damage your frame, so we’d recommend the seatpost). They don’t work well on all aero seatposts and non-round tubes, since the clamping mechanism is usually circular. On the positive side, it’s a lot less expensive than the all metal, Park Tool bench mounts (see below). The 360° rotating head is very easy to adjust. And the 1 - 2.55" (25 - 65mm) clamp jaws will accommodate a wide range a frame sizes.

The PRS-33.2 is single-sided but can be made into a double arm stand, each independently operated, with the addition of the PRS-33.2 AOK Add-On Kit. Can be mounted directly to the floor using the included oversized gussets, or attached to the 135-33 Repair Stand Base (sold separately) for movability. We’ve got a separate guide to electric bike types, but you can find almost any kind of bike with a motor. However, if you’re a mechanic, who’ll be using their repair stand on a daily basis, on lots of different bikes (or your a weekend mechanic who’s not particularly cost conscious), then it makes sense to spend more.It uses the same clamp head as the Bike Hand YC-100BH floor stand (see above). But in this case it’s attached to a metal T bar with a square plate at the bottom, which you will need to bolt onto your work bench (bolts not included!). Generally speaking, the biggest difference between various bike stands is the maximum load that they're able to support and just how adjustable the particular model's height is. Some stands start at 150 centimetres and can go as high as 190+ centimetres, while others won't let you raise the bike that high but will allow you to position it much lower than 150 cm. Keep in mind the extra little details like a tool holder or non-skid feet and you should be able to make the right choice.
