Interviewer: Then I'll ask the director to show the scenes. You're welcome to comment, Mr. Doubleblade. Upon arrival at Dimrill Dale, they engaged in a short battle with the Orcs and, after overpowering them, entered the Great Gates. They established the Twenty-first Hall in the North End as their main base until Balin moved to the Chamber of Mazarbul. Being a direct descendant of the line of Durin, Balin proclaimed himself as the Lord of Moria and set up a throne room in the chamber. For the next 5 years, the colony in Moria thrived. Even though they never found the Ring (which had actually been taken from Thráin II by Sauron), the Dwarves found many other valuable treasures like mithril, helm and Durin’s Axe. BoïndilDoubleblade: Sure! I had already a lot of experience in the books beforehand and knew what to expect. That also applies to Mr. Goldhand. A real pussy was the guy who embodies Rodario. The part with the shaft, for example, he didn't get it right. Fear of heights! (laughs) But if you read the book, you'd think he was on a chain. (takes a sip of water) Throughout most of The Hobbit, the Dwarves are referred to simply as "The Company," and most do not have individual characteristics that set them apart. However, most Dwarves have at least one scene in which they are personally shown. Several of them have more specialties than others. Dwalin Dwalin was a smart one. He decided to stay at the Lonely Mountain where he lived out the rest of his life, dying at the ripe, old age of 340. He lived through the war of the ring, but it was never revealed if he or Gloin ever took part in it.Interviewer: Yes, something like that. Is there a bar that the reader doesn't know of where people gather for a pint in the evening? Also with the orcs and the other "Riffraff", without wanting to offend the actors? Contrary to popular belief, the Dwarves did not provide reinforcements, with the exception of Gimli, as they were engaged in their own struggle. In J.R.R. Tolkien's words, they were not inherently evil and only a few willingly served the Enemy, regardless of the stories told by Men. I'm not sure about what this stanza means but temporally it stands after the one in which Heimdall blows the horn to call everyone for the last battle (stanza 46), but before the one in which Odin is killed by Fenrir (stanza 53). Heitz's Dwarves saga has frequent twists toward the end, that either reveal a trusted character to be a traitor, or a sworn enemy turning out to be an ally. So I was waiting for it with Tungdil.

I beg to differ. The ending was the height of ambiguity, as far as the central question of the story is concerned. After traveling for some time and crossing the river Hoarwell, the company were caught and nearly killed and eaten by three hungry trolls. Gandalf returned in time to keep the monsters occupied until dawn when the light of the Sun turned them to stone. Recovering themselves, the Dwarves found that these Trolls had a cave nearby filled with stolen weapons, food, and a small treasure. Amongst the many weapons were Sting (which Bilbo armed himself with, and which he named after a battle with a giant spider), Orcrist (claimed by Thorin), and Glamdring (taken by Gandalf). Remarkably, all were ancient Elvish blades that had been forged several millennia earlier, in the First Age in Gondolin. Arch-Mage Trebonius asked me to find out what happened to the Dwarves. Unfortunately, he didn't give me much information to go on. I'm not sure if he was serious.
