Description

Multi-Coatings have been applied to minimise aberration and unnecessary light dispersion. Combined with Sony's full-frame image sensor, this zoom lens delivers superior sharpness and contrast in all areas of the image. Well-controlled AF movement speed in AF video shooting mode reduced its wobbling and noise, which maximizes the convenience of the lens usability. The Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN Art and Sigma 28-70 F2.8 DG DN Contemporary show same very good rendering, with a little plus for the 24-70 thanks to its better shaprness at 50-70mm. After we have the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 Di III VXD G2 A063 and then the Samyang that suffers a little bit at 70mm in term of portrait sharpness. In last position you have the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 Di III RXD The wide zoom ring offers an excellent grip but is very heavy in its action. The upside of this is that there is no zoom creep. There are clearly marked settings of 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 70mm. The lens extends when zooming. Interestingly, as mentioned, this is a parfocal zoom, so focus is held throughout the range. It is also held well. Most zoom lenses are varifocal and have to be refocused after every change to the focal length. The parfocal design could be useful for videography, although the stiffness of the zooming action might make a smooth change in focal length difficult. AF performance does keep up and is nice and snappy, courtesy of the linear sonic motor.

With this Cine Kit, you can easily exchange the shooting system such as the lens or For pure video work and for 24/33Mpix where you really need the 24mm, the Samyang is a recommended choice The 24-70mm lens is a good place to start looking if you are wanting a full-frame lens that will be able to cover a diverse variety of photography types. From the widest part of the lens at 24mm for Landscapes to the narrowest part of 70mm for Portraits. And the in-between for almost all types of photography. This is the perfect all-in-one zoom to complement full-frame mirrorless cameras, delivering a wide angle of view and bright maximum F2.8 aperture throughout the entire zoom range. Holdan It has a near-circular 9 blade diaphragm which creates an attractive blur to the out-of-focus areas of the image, a minimum focusing distance of 0.35m (1.15ft), a stepping AF motor for fast and quiet autofocusing, a configurable Custom switch with two different modes, and it's also dust and moisture resistant. The lens extends even further by almost 4cms when it's set to the 70mm focal length, with the shortest length at the 24mm focal length. The main disadvantage I found with the AF 24-70mm was the weight. Compared to the other three lenses, coming in at 1027g, it was by far the heaviest out of the four. This did mean after longer periods of use I started to feel the weight in my arms, especially when moving the camera and lens up to my eye for a shot through the A7’s EVF. This may not be an issue for other users, especially if using a tripod for landscapes or for video, but I would suggest thinking it over if wanting to use it for the likes of handheld or street photography.

Used Samyang AF 24-70mm f/2.8 - Sony FE Fit | MPB

I also included the smallest and lightest 28-70 as a comparison : the Sigma 28-70 F2.8 that has a similar price than the Samyang Despite having the largest minimum focal distance, I did find when wanting to get in closer that I was only a little bit further away when compared to the others. And that I was still able to get great shots even when I was closer in. The AR coating (anti-reflective) on the lens helped reduce the stray reflections hitting the lens when shooting in natural light and gave a good contrast. Owned the Tamron 28-75 mark 1 E-mount lens, sold it when I got the Sony 24-105 as focal range was more important than f-stop for my work, was a great lens. However, as everyone is different I will say all four lenses we have looked at are great options to consider for Sony users after an all-rounder zoom. Whether it's your first lens for Sony Alpha or an upgrade from a previous lens, these four options are definitely deserving of a place in your Sony kit bag. And hopefully, this has helped to give you an idea of what one to go for, for yourself and your needs. If we were put the same portrait shots side by side, you couldn't tell them apart. Linear STM stepping motor for fast, quiet and accurate focusing with a close focus distance of just 35cm The distortion of the Samyang and the Vignetting are the lowest of all, which is good but not a big advantage with current software and in body lens corrections unnecessary when you have a Samyang Cine Kit. Enjoy the essential elements of video shooting at once If you absolutely need 24mm and you are budget constrained then it is a valid option, but for 33% more the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN Art is offering globally much better performances
