My initial reaction to this was that it’s probably a bit of a cost cutting exercise to help save a few pounds / dollars on the more premium stuff. But, after a few minutes thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that I would happily pay more to have a premium unboxing experience. The soundscape is expansive and airy, and the speakers fill the room with clean sound and strong bass (you can lower the bass levels, of course – but why would anyone want less bass, I say!). The only reason I didn’t give them the perfect 10 was because the dust covers feel a little bit ‘off the shelf’ and not purpose built for this particular model. They also felt a little weak and fragile but that shouldn’t stop you considering these. The sound is outputted via planar diaphragm tweeters and 5.5-inch woofers, with 15W of power delivered to the tweeters and 50W reserved for the woofers. The Bluetooth connectivity is easy and strong. I paired up my phone in seconds and didn’t suffer any of the connection issues I’ve faced before with other speakers in the range. There is also no discernible quality difference when listening via wired or wireless input. Next, my job was to test the S2000MKIII’s capabilities where it comes to TV watching. Having used them for almost two weeks, they’re certainly an adequate replacement for a soundbar. Sound Quality At the start I did not notice much difference with the presets/EQ settings but after the 50+ hours of playing the differences became way more distinctive. They are big and will need a degree of space to operate, . But if you are looking at something more towards the audiophile scale, these are highly recommended.

Low frequency voices (Daily dose of internet etc) feel like they are speaking when their noses are clogged. Remember that the tweeter has a power capacity of 15W, which is good for the mid and treble frequencies. However, there is a downside that when the volume levels are very low they can be overwhelmed and start sounding distorted and muddy. To enjoy a good regular sound, avoid volume levels that are too low as this limits the tweeters from giving you the bright and clear sound that you need. EQ modes are available in four options: Monitor, Dynamic, Classic and Vocal. Monitor delivers a flat audio response with no colouration, Dynamic gives tunes more punch and dynamism, while Classic offers a more traditional hi-fi sound and Vocal provides more of an emphasis on, well, vocals. Yea I was really conflicted but in the interest of honesty I commented on the poor quality dust covers simply because I felt a little disapointed by them. But I do understand your point, they are simply sublime! The second thing you’ll notice is that the speakers are big, and… heavy. 17.1kg heavy. That’s something you should keep in mind, especially if you’re planning to position them next to your TV – as you’ll need a lot of space, and a TV cabinet that can hold the TV AND the speakers, in terms of the combined weight.
