Bauer Media Group consists of : Bauer Consumer Media Ltd, Company number 01176085; Bauer Radio Limited, Company number: 1394141; Suitable for motorhomes, trailers and 4x4s, it makes a great option for multi-vehicle households and could save you quite a bit of money in fuel consumption over the years. It also comes in a handy carry bag and various valve adaptors, making it easy to transfer from one vehicle to another. HEAVY DUTY CONSTRUCTION: the air compressor has metal body, brass connector and hard-wearing storage bag so it can withstand heavy duty use. I have the RING RAC900 identified by johnDL and can report I have been very pleased with it on my 65 psi tyres. I know that falls well below the OP's 5.5 bar 80 psi target but it is the best DC inflator by miles I have come across. My more toy earlier ones were fine out of the box but a few years in limped to get above 60 psi. Some years ago I bought a RING RAC900 tyre inflator. All was well, but at that time I had a 12v battery “spare” . My leisure battery is not that accessible, so this worked well. At home, in the drive, but not on the move.

From the pictures you can see: The diameter is 10.0 mm, The pitch is 1.0 mm and in the jaws of my calipers it looks fairly parallel.

Unfortunately, the Screwfix master plug is as stated a 10A rated item, whereas the Ring RAC 900 the OP has is rated at 30 Amps, massively higher. So what are the plus-points of the Ring RAC700 4×4 Air Compressor? Well, it’s designed for 4×4 car tyres as well as standard tyres. Once connected, the LCD screen indicated the PSI on my Citroen C1’s front right tyre in a matter of seconds. Target adjustment was another painless process as only the middle dial needed to be turned for me to reach my desired PSI target. It would be difficult to remove dirt from inside the connectors, so keep dirt out of them. Once inside it may prevent them sealing when coupled. This is one of thearguments againstthis device. Surprising the number of times my tyre(s) have needed a top up due to temperature pressure loss, minute leakage, slow puncture evident after a 2,3, or 4,week campup. The nearest forecourt pump may be miles away, and bound to be in the wrong direction and only putting out 2 Bar car pressures, or U/S at times. Thanks to its preset pressure function, you can adjust it to your desired levels and the unit will inflate and switch off on completion. It also has a handy memory feature that remembers the last programmed tyre pressure, reducing inflation time and making it faster and easier to get all four tyres up to the correct pressure levels. If you’ve ever owned a portable tyre inflator, you may not have known what brand it was but there’s a fair chance it was a model from Ring Automotive. The brand has a well-cemented reputation as a reliable automotive aftermarket choice for car tyre car, battery care, and lighting.

The power consumption of the RAC900 is 280 Watts. That’s equivalent to 5 car headlamp bulbs of 55 Watts each. This is much more than a cigar lighter which is often 180Watts. And it’s continuous throughout the time you’re pumping the tyre. Unfortunately that’s where the similarity ends, because with this Ring RAC700 the compressor-mounted gauge, standard-length air hose, and 12V plug on the power lead are all much more like the budget DIY models on our test bench. strokes of the best pump could add 12psi, but don't forget that the tyre being inflated during the test was an ordinary car tyre and that only relatively low pressures were involved. It would be completely unrealistic to expect that pump to be capable of inflating one of your motorhome's tyres from 0psi to 69psi with 288 strokes. (Even if it could, that's still a helluva lot of strokes.)

Ring Automotive RAC900 Professional High Power Air Compressor

Downside is cost (though I think it's very reasonable for the quality on offer) and bulk - it comes in a bag the size of a rugby ball. I've managed to inflate m/home tyres to 5 Bars plus, sometimes from flat with quite small 12v inflators by limiting There is also a minimum number of controls for extra simplicity. Just as well, as the instructions are not very clear. Unfortunately, this Ring model no longer comes with a storage case, although it won’t take up much space in your boot. However, you may find it a little tedious folding up the hose and power cables to fit in the small storage cavities. And, doing so may cause unnecessary wear and future malfunction as they do get quite bent. I’ve used it to top up car and motorbike pressures and once to seat a stubborn tubeless tyre on a mountain bike. I like the screw-on fittings and long hose but generally think a digital gauge is easier to use than an analogue one. It’s a hefty bit of kit, but super speedy and surprisingly quiet.

While on the aire at Gravelines, a motorcyclist came over from the road and asked if I could help with a tyre inflator.. his rear tyre was soft.. While this 12V digital air compressor is not the most accurate nor the most durable, it is handy and stores neatly in your car boot. Unfortunately, the instructions are very poor and we’d advise you to try it out several times on arrival to familiarise yourself with the product. Can you recalibrate the pressure gauge, as our old compressor I think is now running 10psi over the real psi level? sciac2001 I connect it onto the engine starter battery, it's easier to access, my leisure batteries are under the cab seats.. but you could use the leisure battery without disconnection any cables..

On the downside, there is no bag or case to store the included adapters. Also, this Ring model does heat up after several minutes of operation, although this is fairly common with compressors. Lastly, the air cord is a little short. Alternatively, we have a powerful air-suspension compressor fitted internally. Might this be adapted to also provide emergency tyre inflation too? At first glance, this unit appears to be a more powerful tyre compressor than the Ring RAC 630 Digital Air Compressor + Inflator & Deflatorand the Ring RAC640 Digital Air Compressor + Inflator & Deflator, which we were also testing, while being a budget version of Ring’s professional RAC900 unit. I was holding both in one hand and the camera in the other.. set on macro.. not a great idea for a clear photo..
