The SAS: Who Dares Wins star, record-breaking Atlantic rower and documentary-maker, will be bringing you inspiration and motivation to inspire you in your everyday lives, both at work and play. The route will pass through part of the eastern Pacific Gyre, a large-scale accumulation zone of plastic pollution. It’s a very human response not to want to endure pain, but like my life in the military, I needed to become comfortable within an uncomfortable situation.

Written with honesty about his struggle with PTSD and suicidal thoughts, Foxy tells his story of his time in the British Military. Recently, a psychology student got in touch, having heard about my struggle with mental health problems. Fox repeatedly states his love for his children but never illustrates it: a bit too much like parents who are so inept they have their kids taken into care - yes, they may love them but can't get their heads around the "mundane" tasks of feeding, clothing, cleaning, keeping house etc.

I’ve heard of people whose successful businesses were ruined by a negative relationship with alcohol. And hopefully this will help the readers, who may be in a similar place to where Foxy was, to see that they are not alone and that there are resources out there to tap into and find the brand of help that will get them on the road to recovery!

From deployment in Afghanistan to walking to the North Pole, Jason highlights what it takes to develop emotional resilience from working within some of the most pressurised environments on earth. As an ex military who've been through some depression and anxiety I understand exactly what he is talking about, I resonated with him a lot. His home life fell apart too and he was finally advised by his superiors that he could only get better if he left the military. Off-screen, Jason has undertaken several charity challenges including a record-breaking row across the Atlantic with Team Essence and walking to the North Pole with Will Greenwood MBE and Alan Chambers MBE. She has spent extensive time in a remote corner of Namibia, immersed in intensive survival and primitive skills training with the San Bushmen, the most ancient civilisation on the planet.Outside of his military career, some of Fox's bigger adventures include rowing across the Atlantic Ocean from Lagos, Portugal to Macuro, Venezuela in 2016 with four of his friends including Oliver Bailey. When we’re out filming, there’s a team of people all working together to get a job done under some tough conditions. This book has given me a chance to accept the problem and it’s scary how similar my own account is after listening to this. Her style of therapy seemed to be to offer an attitude of total forgiveness, and this seemed key in Foxy coming to terms with his trauma — perhaps she was the mother figure he longed for in the heat of battle — and yet she did not completely forgive Foxy for the things he did in war, and seemed perturbed that her therapy had played a role in enabling him to continue to promote war and violence in the form of his SAS selection programme. We’re going to learn from it and we’re going to go on and we’re going to become a better group of people.

I found myself in a new job that I hated, where I worked in a role as far removed from my life behind enemy lines as I could imagine. The ability to comment on our stories is a privilege, not a right, however, and that privilege may be withdrawn if it is abused or misused. After 20 years servings as a Royal Marine Commando and Special Forces Sergeant, he’s now a regular on TV in series including SAS: Who Dares Wins. Ness Knight is an explorer who has completed a diverse collection of expeditions in extreme environments around the globe.Having enjoyed SAS Who Dares Wins and seen Foxy reveal his issues mentally after being discharged from special services, enjoyed this read where he pulls from his military life and relates lessons he’s learned to “normal” life. That’s something of an understatement when you consider some of Foxy’s anecdotes… Having a pistol held to his head by Pablo Escobar’s personal hitman, helicopter crashes in unnamed warzones, or gun battles where the 30-strong squad is surrounded by 200-plus enemy fighters. And throwing myself into the sea would have been a far more selfish act than breaking away from certain friends and partners. The autobiography is of a man who had to deal with the wounds from battles as a Special Forces Soldier. Time issues and deadlines, information required that you don’t have – you can see people go into a flat spin.

OK, I was scared, but in that split second I thought, ‘I’m not gonna be back as a ten-year-old boy sitting at home.By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and authorise Audible to charge your designated card or any other card on file.
