Before being killed in action, Sgt Labalaba singlehandedly operated the 25-pounder gun, a weapon normally requiring four to six soldiers to operate. Labalaba's actions were a key factor in halting the Adoo's assault on the emplacement, allowing time for reinforcements to arrive.
