I didn't know the term "active bi-amping" means active crossover. Good to know, I'll use the term here. Small hint… If you want to know who was our winner in the category AV receiver review, you’ll find a review here 😉

Multiple room setups were fairly painless to manage, though cable management might be a bit of a pain if you don’t have some form of routing for hiding away the plethora of connections you’ll be stringing from room to room. Build quality is another strong point of Denon receivers. They’re well-constructed and designed to last. Many models include robust metal chassis that can withstand years of use. Again, I really appreciate how clearly the AVR-X3700H communicates what mode it’s in, including what audio codec, and which video resolution or format is being displayed. The AVR-X3700H features extremely nimble media switching and dynamic HDR capabilities. For compelling contrast, clarity, and color, the HDMI inputs also feature BT.2020 pass-through support, 3D, Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG), Dolby Vision, HDR10, and 4:4:4 Pure Color subsampling.

Product Research

People who consume a lot of films and have a lot stored on hard drives or other devices benefit the most from a media server. Functionally, a media server acts as a private streaming service on your home network, offering up films, shows, and music as you would like. Anyway, with all the channels taken this way to drive the fronts there's no surround sound anymore. If the Denon 3700 is driving an 8 ohm speaker which is 4 ohms in the treble and 4 ohms in the midbass (B&W 683) with loud, midbass heavy content with crisp, loud highs (30 volts) with 4 channels (2 to woofers, 2 to midranges/tweeters - a passive bi-amp), the highs which would normally be distorted because of too much current being demanded by the woofers at 30 volts, are not distorted. The lows are a bit less distorted because there's about 30% less current being drawn by the midrange/tweeter, and the distortion that is there is not really perceived by the brain because the highs are clear. In addition to the lower distortion, the bass is also a bit louder from the extra current.

If you want more HDMI 2.1 inputs for your many elite and varied consoles, you should take a look at the Yamaha RX-V6A, which has three HDMI 2.1 inputs instead of the Denon's one. What I heard: DAC in v2: top octave is not as bright and more detailed midrange. v1 was more fatiguing (comparatively, I don't mean to say it's bad, it's not - just a little bright compared to v2 and neutral). I couldn't tell if fatigue was because of more top end or more distortion - at the end of the day it doesn't matter. I went with v2, and you have v2 available. If you're like me, you'll use your new receiver to play music in addition to watching movies. The AVR-X3700H lets you streamtunes from your phone or tablet through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and even AppleAirPlay 2. The result is an AVR-X3600H that is sneaking up on its bigger sibling in terms of performance and connectivity. If you have a grand to spend on an AV receiver, Denon should still be at the top of your list. There’s a lot to like about both the Onkyo TX-NR797 and the Denon AVR-X3700H. They’re both 7.2 channel receivers with support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, they have similar power output, and they offer a wealth of features for customizing your home theater experience. So which one should you buy?

In use, the unit was quite robust, never shutting down no matter how much I pushed its amplification in my standard tests. Other AVRs can be very sensitive, constantly shutting down when pushed, often requiring a power cycle. Not here. The TX-NR595 also features Chromecast built-in, so you can easily cast your favorite music, podcasts, or internet radio stations from your mobile device to the receiver. It’s an easy and effective listen. No matter how hectic the action becomes, this Denon never misses a beat. It passes the laser blasts from speaker to speaker in a wonderfully coherent manner and, no matter the scene, creates a genuine sense of place.

Edit: If anyone wants a free extra 20 watts to listen to a few loud songs, just turn your variac up to 132 volts! It works lol. Just don't leave it there when you're not listening to loud music. And maybe use a fan if a few loud songs turns into many. You don't want heat damage!! In addition, the Denon AVC-X3700H has got so-called Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X, which with the help of advanced digital processing simulates height channels based on a traditional speaker setup, completely without height speakers. This works less convincing than elevation speakers, but gives a better illusion of 3D sound than not having the function at all. IMAX Enhanced Everybody will be able to make use of this amp’s 3D audio support, though – whether or not you have dedicated height speakers –which runs to Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Virtualization Technology, DTS:X, DTS Virtual:X and IMAX Enhanced. If you have the same signal that peaks at 30 volts being sent to two pairs of outputs instead of one (bi-amping - one amp for woofer, one amp for midrange/tweeter), then: When it comes to audio quality, Denon receivers are hard to beat. They have a reputation for delivering clean, clear, and powerful sound. Whether you’re watching movies or listening to music, Denon receivers will provide an immersive and enjoyable experience.

The most notable upgrade to the AVC-3800H compared to the company’s previous models is an increase in its processing from 9.2 to 11.4 channels, which is handled by a new Griffin Lit XP processor. With nine channels of amplification as a single unit, it's suitable for configurations up to 5.4.4 out of the box but can be expanded to 7.4.4 with the addition of an external stereo amp. While Onkyo started out making affordable, mass-market products, it has since shifted its focus to high-end A/V equipment. Today, Onkyo is one of the most respected names in home theater, known for their build quality, innovative features, and excellent sound quality.
