Description

It’s a magnificent piece that places a sword-brandishing Kâhl at the head of a host of Hearthkyn Warriors, Cthonian Beserks, a Eihyr Champion, what appears to be a Hekaton Land Fortress and an Odin-like (people have already picked up on the apparent Votann/Wotan/Woden/Odin link) Grimnyr in his robes, stave aloft. The datacards and especially the token sheet will be very useful, and the transfer sheets come with symbols for each of the 5 named leagues as well as numbers and general symbols for marking out your squads (thats squads not squats). The Bastium void armour-clad Kâhl can be assembled with either an Autoch-pattern combi-bolter or a volkanite disintegrator for his sidearm, and forgewrought plasma axe or mass gauntlet for his left arm.

So, let’s break this down: 25 figures isn’t too bad for a box of this size – especially considering there’s a pair of hero/command figures as well as a number of larger, vehicle-sized miniatures in here too. Obviously, we don’t know the actual pricing of the individual units quite yet, but we have plenty of evidence to go off.You can also be one of the first people in the world to get their hands on the brand new Codex: Leagues of Votann . Take a look at Ross’ awesome How to Paint Space Wolves video from the 16-minute mark for a demonstration on how these work. For more details, read our full, up-to-date guide to 10th edition Warhammer 40k codex release dates.

This new Warhammer Crime anthology includes seven stories featuring a range of new and established characters as they try to come to terms with the turmoil happening in Varangantua. The set also contains the brand new Collector's Edition Codex: Leagues of Votann with a special cover. The Kronus Hegemony are the most military-minded, and adds 1 to its attack roll if it charges or performs a Heroic Intervention. This includes Ion weaponry, a technology they generously gave to the Warhammer 40k Tau Empire, and even artificial intelligence. Critical Hits are used to trigger other weapon abilities, which in the case of the SP Conversion Beamer is an additional D3 hits from its Sustained Hits D3 ability.

Of course, it’s supposed to resemble a stone-like, scarred texture, ta give ye the feel this wee chappie’s got sum o’ tha’ real dwarven grit aboot ‘im. The dreaded Heavy Magna-Rail Cannon remains lethal, with S18, AP-4, dealing D6+6 wounds, and ignoring armour saves on to-wound rolls of six. A lot of the unique Votann mechanics make the jump to 10th edition 40k more or less intact, such as the ‘Eye of the Ancestors’ ability. Much of the history of the old-school Squats (more on them below) has made it into Warhammer 40k’s brand new, refreshed Leagues of Votann lore. Expert forge workers kitted out for war in awesome exo-frames, the Brôkhyr Thunderkyn are your dedicated heavy gunners, armed with the very dangerous-sounding SP Conversion Beamer.
