He's known for being overenthusiastic and intense, which makes him a prime target for Fred and George's good-natured teasing. A scene from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban exhibits one of Wood’s more thoughtless moments. The cover may have some limited signs of wear but the pages are clean, intact and the spine remains undamaged.

This page was intended to remain "under construction" whilst all the different aspects of the books are linked together. Given that he was the only one out of the team over the span of a few years to go on and play professionally (many years after he graduated, Ginny Weasley became the next), I think it’s remarkable that he never once made a joke, sarcastic comment, or remark about his skills personally. Fred and George had to spend the first half trying to protect Harry, but they could not help the Chasers and Slytherin were winning. Wood does not play a large part in the story after this; he is there in the Quidditch practices and in the various Quidditch matches.I think we'd better check with Puddlemere United whether Oliver Wood's been killed during a training session, because Angelina seems to be channelling his spirit. Then, Wood begins talking about Harry and his perfect Seeker’s build as though Harry weren’t standing right there. Without Harry and his Nimbus 2000 broomstick, the Gryffindor team suffered its biggest defeat [5] in three hundred years. Training his team hard for the first match against Slytherin, he was shocked to find out that Slytherin had indeed managed to postpone the match owing to an injury to their Seeker, Draco Malfoy.

As Charlie's last year at Hogwarts was 1990–1991 it's likely that he would be Quidditch Captain his final year with Oliver becoming captain the next year, 1991. Almost every time we encounter Oliver in the books, he’s in a frenzy trying to make sure that Gryffindor wins the Quidditch Cup. He let the team know, but he wanted to keep the school from finding out so he could be a secret weapon. Wood was the captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team during the first three years of Harry's schooling at Hogwarts. He would often be more concerned about his teammates than himself, like urging them to eat breakfast before a match, yet touching nothing himself.

However, Oliver understood what golf balls were and integrated them into his first practice with Harry Potter, so he clearly had some exposure to the Muggle World, indicating that at least one family member knew about one muggle sport. After a while he was promoted as a player and lived his life long dream of becoming a quidditch player. He later came to Harry’s bedside and told him in a hollow, dead sort of voice that he didn’t blame him.

He is Keeper for the Gryffindor team, and as such is responsible for some particularly spectacular saves. Oliver, overjoyed and ecstatic at finally having achieved his dream, watched Harry lift the Cup aloft. Oliver begged her to let it continue but she ignored him, telling everyone to go back to their common room instead.

It is a shame, though, because if nothing else, we do wish we could have seen more of Sean Biggerstaff on-screen in that dashing turtleneck sweater. We see Oliver in passing in the campground before the Quidditch World Cup, where we learn that he is playing for the Puddlemere United Quidditch team. Oliver became Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team in either 1990, his fourth year [9] or 1991, his fifth year.

Diggory tried to demand a rematch when he realized Harry had fallen, but even Oliver agrees that Hufflepuff won fairly. He would always get a maniacal look in his eyes when he started encouraging the Quidditch team or talking about Quidditch. He mentioned this to Harry Potter when Oliver was in his fifth year, as Harry was nervous for his first Quidditch match.
