The relationship between Emma and Rain is lovely, I was sobbing more than once and while I got slightly irritated by Emma’s indecision at times it actually made perfect sense considering their history and the reality of their current lives.And then Rainier is everything I love in a hero, protective and caring (even when he’s still mad and hurt), and just so swoony with the little moments.

I think there is strength in Emma wanting to remain sane to be able to focus rather than be a constant sobbing mess. Because the last person thought to be the Beloved was brutally murdered by the enemy kingdom of Folterra, Emmeline has dedicated the last sixteen years to hiding her daughter and keeping her safe.
