Description

I feel that this can be softened by spraying this a few minutes before taking a shower, or bath -- then allowing the fragrance oil to open with warm water. If you like crystal clear, sparkling florals, on a slightly powdery base, you are going to love this fragrance. I have the edt and edp of this. It is a very clean and clear distinctive floral that smells wonderful, especially in winter and early spring. Unlike Chanel No.5, which some have compared it, the aldehydes are not a sharp affront to your nose, but rather an airy, gossamer cloud of powdery floral goodness. It is so well composed that it is hard for me to distinguish, though it is not an abstract floral like Chanel. Rather it is a bouquet of crystalline white flowers, particularly jasmine, daffodil, and carnation (which gives it a little bit of spice), with a hint of rose. The galbanum and vetiver adds a little greenness and aromatics, and with the dry down of amber, vanilla, a hint of earthy patchouli, and a slightly anamalic musk, combine into a very polished finish. Oh, and I must say that I'm very surprised that the nose behind First is Jean-Claude Ellena. It seems that he's been in the world of minimalism for such a long time, .....well, people change when time goes by, I guess. After testing two recent versions of this perfume (the current EDT in the white box and the 2012 EDP Intense, more on these later), I decided to get my hands on a good example of the original issue. If you are not interested in vintage perfume talk, you may want to stop reading now. There are a lot of vintage bottles of First to choose from since it has been in circulation for almost 40 years. I ended up with a still-sealed Sanofi-era, pre-barcode EDT which I can date to before 1990, thanks to the invaluable Raiders of the Lost Scent blog. The current formulation, structure and dry down is similar to the vintage, but you just have to ride out the first 15 minutes. (bit harsh with the green and aldehydes but worth it) So its still an excellent buy for the complexity and opulence this one provides at the price point.

In 2010/2011, the company's estimated sales were €450 million in total sales and €45 million in watches. Ingredients

This really has to work well with your chemistry because there are so many ingredients in this that it could feel overwhelming if you are not chemically suited to wear this one. The prominent oakmoss note of the drydown leads First into chypre territory, bolstered by earthy, woody notes. It is very animalic, salty and leathery, with some sweet amber-vanilla notes, perhaps enhanced by honey, complementing it beautifully. It somehow avoids becoming murky, as can happen in such complex, old-fashioned chypres. It fades to a slighty sweet musky-amber skin scent. Sillage is moderate and longevity pretty decent. I prefer this to No. 5 because it's more original and less common I think, and also because there's a slight spicyness to No. 5 in EdT at least that I don't especially like and that's missing here.

I believe first is one of prettiest classics I've ever tried,it's balanced, wearable and likable..it's soft, kind, fresh and clean also powerful and longlasting and oh I love classic bottles and their golden juices(it's not a golden scent for me,if scents had color this could be white or pale lemony yellow IMO) First opens with fresh citrus notes bolstered by bright, soapy aldehydes. Some fleeting sweetness is given by the raspberry note, perhaps with some peach. As it develops, the big floral heart emerges. Wonderfully powdery and old-fashioned, it is a rich, well-blended bouquet. A white floral accord leads the way, with indolic jasmine and a waxy hyacinth-tuberose accord most prominent. Polleny narcissus and slightly sweet rose round it out, with a soft hint of carnation adding spice. The soapiness fades as the indolic florals develop, becoming more carnal than clean, paving the way for the mossy, animalic drydown. Shopping around for something unique? Try Van Cleef & Arpels' niche fragrance. Van Cleef & Arpels First The reason I remember this so well is, that when I went to visit my grandparents for the holidays I was usually dropped off at my granny's workplace, a bank. Oftentimes this was about one hour before she had finished work and so I sat beside her and played some games. its taken me so long to be able to translate what people are meaning when they review these scents -- i suppose one must think of First, chanel number 5, ... others in that category as layered with dry talc citrus.

In season 4, episode 23 of Frasier, the character Niles Crane is speaking on his mobile phone with his wife Maris, from whom he is recently separated at the time. On the phone, Niles says to Maris 'I miss you more...than Van Cleef would miss Arpels'. Far from well-known scents, First is an artisanal-fragrance intended to showcase the zenith of years of sensory creativity by Van Cleef & Arpels. It was presented to the world in 2018. This long-lasting parfum has considerable sillage due to its high portion of essential oils. Most eaux de parfum have between 15-20%. Aldehyde was one of the first synthetic ingredients to be used in parfums -- it is what gives Chanel No. 5 it's unmistakeable whoosh-effect. Floral-aldehydics, such as this one, tend to leave a powdery impression as they settle. A Feminine Compilation Revisiting this after retiring it from my private collection of fragrances for about five years. This is a luxury fragrance. It goes on strong and can wear fairly mature... so spray this about an hour before you plan on being in the car or elevator with someone.
