four, the dialogue just didn’t make it feel like they were adults. like the lines with nathan and his team could have just as easily been used in a conversation from high schoolers and it would not change a thing. the side characters were just really flat and were only there to yell at nathan and bree for being morons. i don’t understand how this book is intended for adults because the writing was just so incredibly juvenile. This is an aspect of Nathan’s life I’m not used to. I’m trying to convince myself this is an average sunny day and I’m simply taking a drive with my BFF, but this pumpkin feels an awful lot like a carriage, and it’s making me want to run for the hills. I can practically see the giant pencil in my mind flipping over and smudging its eraser across those beautifully drawn lines that define our friendship. You could feel both Bree and Nathan wanting to take things a step further, but didn’t want to destroy their friendship. They had a lot of build up to this and the dual POV helped a ton. Without that dual POV this book would not have been a fun to read and I don’t think the characters would have been as sympathetic. Then there's the two leads themselves.
