Reacher’s boss is transferred out and replaced by Willard who tells Reacher not to investigate these deaths. I particularly liked his style of letting us into the secrets without giving away too much of the coming plot. The farewell scenes with Joe and his dying mother are superbly handled by Child, poignant and true and with death calmly presiding. One of the things that impressed me about this book was that Reacher went from badass to super badass in such a strong way. Just keep in mind exactly who this guy is, how he got there, and how different his view of the world has been compared to yours.

And it even pains me more to reveal that it was the Tom Cruise movie that motivated me to start reading the series! Reacher deduces that Kramer was gay, and that he met Carbone at the motel, who stole his briefcase when he died and informed Brubaker of the contents.By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and authorise Audible to charge your designated card or any other card on file.

Child's best-ever writing, especially Reacher's personal life with brother Joe and his dying mother, poignant, honest and true. Lee has three homes—an apartment in Manhattan, a country house in the south of France, and whatever airplane cabin he happens to be in while traveling between the two. The cover is a deserted, rainy street with the light from traffic lights and neon signs reflecting off the wet pavement in a glorious blur of red, white, and blues.Jack Reacher investigates and comes to the conclusion that the woman Kramer was with stole his briefcase.

Author Lee Child has received multiple nominations for the prestigious Ian Fleming Steel Dagger, recognising best thriller of the year. At the beginning of a new decade Reacher is suddenly transferred from Panama to Little Bird then a two star general is found dead and very much naked in a motel room. Accept no substitutes' Mick Herron'The thing about Lee Child's books is that you can't put the damn things down. Reacher is informed that, due to the charge filed by Carbone, he will be demoted to the rank of Captain unless he denies it, which his lawyer encourages him to do. In the book there is also a parallel part concerning Reacher's private life, in particular the relationship with his brother Joe and their mother; it is a part that will lead Reacher to discover things that he did not know about his mother's past and that makes us understand a little more why he is like this today.Major Jack Reacher is one of the best of the military policemen in the army and the top people know it. Monsieur Pierre Lamonnier knew her when Josephine Moutier was Béatrice and rescuing downed soldiers.

Adrian Harrington began trading in 1971, as part of Harrington Brothers in the Chelsea Antiques Market on London's fashionable King's Road.I particulary like the ending and the explanation for background we have learned about Reacher in Child's other books. Before accepting his new command, he tracks down the corrupt Willard and executes him in his own house, planting drugs on the body to hide his involvement. In theory they are everything I should enjoy in a story but in reality I find them a bit of a trudge through treacle and always about a hundred pages or so too long. Afterwards, Reacher is told by the motel's night clerk that he heard a military vehicle leaving after Kramer's death, and Reacher concludes that the woman Kramer was with is a female army officer.
