This has been in my library since it was released, and I finally decided that it was time to read it. I needed something that would be funny, cute, and a light read. This, however, didn't give me that. I'm usually giggling and laughing out loud with Meghan's books. I totally get why this book is described as a The Princess Diaries retelling with a dash of My Fair Lady and a yummy dollop of 50 Shades of Grey, and I enjoyed this combo very much. Keller tried to say her conversions with Evan were "shallow" while theirs were "deep" but he literally wouldn't TALK to her! Deep my butt, all he talked about was how she couldn't resist him sexually and how mad they were. You. You will always and forever come first. Over this country, over this responsibility that rests on my shoulders. You, Keller. You matter more to me than anything.”

I grew to love this couple. I loved how they both changed for one another in subtle and not so subtle ways. Lilly, most noticeably, changes into someone fit for a crown and to be the head of a country. I also love a good grovel and Keller was very very good at it. I keep telling myself, it’ll all work out. We just need to make it to the wedding day. Except, when the day finally comes, everything falls apart. Royally in Trouble continues to follow Lilly and Keller as they navigate their personal and professional relationship and go through hardships to get to know one another and themselves. Stars equals I am buying a physical copy of this book. I will read this book at least 10 more times, it is the best ever.The narration by Emma Wilder and John Hartley is simply fantastic. Emma is a downright comic genius in this performance, and she had me in stitches. I loved how she captured Lilly's spirit and zest for life. She's seriously one of the absolute best in the business. John Hartley was the perfect foil for our free spirit, and he embodied the battle between Keller's propriety and his desire. The book almost felt like two separate stories or parts. Part one leading up to the wedding day, and part 2 after. It was longer than some other romance books because of this, and the angst lasted for a quite a while - as in, I needed a lot of tissues. I did enjoy the story overall, though there were a few things that felt like could have been cut from the story or could have been tied up a little more nicely. Thankfully, Meghan Quinn keeps us smiling while the characters are dealing with the events of Royally In Trouble. I really tried to figure out the mystery before the end, but I definitely had no idea what was coming. LOL. While I liked this book, I took off a star because I needed a longer conflict resolution between Keller and Lilly. I felt like they rushed through some important healing that would be needed after the events.We are oil and water every single day and even though he’s training me to be queen, I have this simmering desire to kneel before him. So I'm off to get my hands on Royally In Trouble, which I'm hoping is just as amazing (if not more than) this was! The thing I loved most about this book—well, there were a LOT of things I loved—but the thing that made it stand out from the other things I've read from Meghan was the mystery element! I LOVED it! I love romances with that hint of mystery, and this was more than a hint. It was huge part of the plot, and I was so here for it. I thought I had it figured out several times, and while my original hunch was *partially* right, I didn't totally have it, so for that, I give major props. You might be a future queen, but when it comes to the bedroom, I’m your goddamn king. Got it?” Meghan Quinn, Royally Not Ready I rarely buy ebooks unless they are cheaply priced or on sale. I also very rarely buy physical copies of books. I’m a bit of a minimalist so I have to absolutely adore a book to buy a physical copy that will be proudly displayed in my home.

stars equals “Meh.” I will not read this book again, it had a lot of problems and I did not care for it. Now I am huge fan of Meghan Quinn, everyone who knows me, knows this. However Royal Romances are really not my jam. So when Royally not ready landed on my e-reader I was curious to see if Meghan could change my mind.When Meghan describes this as The Princess Diaries meets My Fair Lady meets 50 Shade of Grey, she’s not kidding. The journey from spraying down customers for wet T-shirt contests in Miami, to proper princess…..well let’s just say I wasn’t sure how we’d get there but boy do we get there! Meghan Quinn has given us a grumpy sunshine romance that is filled with laughter, heartbreak, and a beautiful happy ending… or at least for now it’s a happy ending.
