I also felt like the Adaptable Acoustics thing was a bit misleading for consumers and that it doesn’t actually do much. Adding Noise cancellation or actual Ambient mode would make these a lot more valuable in my opinion.

Sound is clear, direct and neutral. The Momentum 4 might have shed a little of the richness that made their predecessors so appealing, but highs are well-honed and mids are pleasingly plump. You can even create ‘Sound Zones’– essentially profiles characterised by specific EQ and noise isolation levels. I hope the second iteration of the Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless headphones will doctor these issues – I look forward to testing them soon! Sennheiser SPORT True Wireless review – Also consider

One of the great features for those on the go will be the battery life in these headphones. With up to 27 hours of audio play time, these last longer than the CX by about 7 hours, and they’re about the same as the Momentum 2 (28 hours). You should get 9 hours out of the buds themselves and the rest comes from the case recharging the buds. That’s outstanding battery life and better than average. It’ll take you about 90 minutes to recharge them, So, do the different ear tips work? They do, with the help of the Sennheiser app, where you can tailor the sound of the buds even more to maximise sound isolation/ambient sound potential. The Adaptable Acoustics feature has two options: 'Focus' or 'Aware' mode, the first obviously being the mode you want to choose with the closed tips. Roku Streambar Review: an extraordinary enhancement to your TV with added channels and brilliant sound The company offers headphones to suit all styles and budgets – and (a lot of) very good-sounding ones at that. So good, in fact, that we've lost count of how many What Hi-Fi? Awards the brand has acquired over the years.

Sennheiser Sport True Wireless review: Sporty buds with

When you consider the outstanding battery life, detailed sound and competitive price, the latest Momentum over-ears have a lot going for them. The Sennheiser CX True Wireless has a pretty accurate frequency response (cyan line), compared to our target curve (pink line). Bass and mid-range sound is emphasized a little more, but it sounds pretty nice—nothing’s boosted so much to make music come through sounding notably distorted. The less emphasized high-range sound from 2-6KHz is a little surprising to see, but this is intentional as it reduces the amplification of naturally occurring resonances within the human ear canal that we typically perceive as irritating. Highs, mids, and lowsThey are easy to use, doing their job when it comes to passive noise cancellation or keeping you aware of your surroundings. Now when it comes to connectivity, each earbud establishes a connection with your phone. So if you just want to use one earbud at a time, you can use either one it doesn’t matter and this is the connection set up these we expect to see from all of our earbuds nowadays. And thankfully, Sennheiser have now implemented this across the board on all of their current earbuds. This pair isn't the first to try this approach, but few among those that have tried see success—the recent Sony LinkBuds are one example with an open design and subpar audio. Here, the open design is less consequential—it doesn’t ruin the audio experience, though the earbuds also let in far less outside sound than that Sony pair. All the controls, including a mic are built into a rectangular box that sits along the cable a few centimetres beneath the right earpiece.

Each bud has a touch panel on the outside and you can customise four controls on each side – one, two or three taps, or hold. You can control the volume, activate your phone’s smart assistant and turn the buds off using the panel, as well as the usual play/pause and skip. The controls were pretty easy to use on the move, though I often set off the one-touch play/pause control by accident when taking the buds in and out. You can also turn off the controls if this becomes an annoyance.I used the biggest of all of them, of course, as I have ears as big as Dumbo, but I was surprised that I could find a fit that works as I often struggle with buds falling out of my left ear. The wing tips – sorry, ear fins – press the buds into the ears perfectly, leaving very little room for the sound to escape. This is important as the SPORT True Wireless hasn't got active noise cancellation (ANC), but even if it did, ill-fitting buds would compromise it.
