Then, there's the Pike Select+ that runs most of what the Ultimate gets but it drops the lightweight crown and Buttercups tech. This one looks to be OEM only and isn't available aftermarket.

Rounding up the Pike range is the Pike base which comes with a Rush RC damper, DebonAir+ air spring and everything that we get on the Select model, including the opportunity to upgrade the fork to use Pressure Relief Valves. Like the Select+, this one looks like it's OEM only. The fork travel of Judy Gold outshines Judy Silver. The Judy gold has a variable travel rate of 80-120 mm. The Judy Silver has a fork travel rate of 120 mm which is not inconsistent. The air presure required in your fork will vary depending on the model of fork, and the style of your bike. For DebonAir, SoloAir, and Dual Postion Air, you will determine require pressure based on the percent sag, the amount of full travel that the suspension compresses when the ride is on the bicycle in a normal riding position. The turnkey adjustment only allows rebound dampening. You cannot adjust the travel and compression. This is set by the factory. Please note, this fork has a straight 1 1/8" steerer tube and 9mm QR dropouts nottapered and bolt through as pictured.

However, don’t think that it’s weak because it is light. The straight wall aluminum build provides a strong structure. It also has torque cap compatibility. This allows additional stiffness to the structure. The top-of-the-range Lyrik Ultimate gets all the bells and whistles. It’s equipped with a DebonAir+ air spring and Charger 3 RC2 damper, making it a popular choice for some of the best trail bikes.

161mm Plus Travel

These, new for 2023, add an additional 5% of torsional stiffness but are removable if you're not interested. Flight Attendant Boost is the name given for the latest wheel axle spacing. Boost forks use a 110mm width hub, whereas older forks and wheels use a standard 100mm width. While it may not sound much, getting the wrong one will be make or break when it comes to installation compatibility. This is a term for volume spacers that can be added to the fork's air spring to adjust how much progression there is - how much harder it becomes to move the fork as it goes deeper into the travel. Adding more makes the fork harder to bottom out under hard riding; having fewer means of achieving full travel for a given starting pressure is easier. Winner: The winner is the Judy Gold model for its variable travel rate. This allows it to work on any terrain. Damper:

Torque Caps make the bond between hub and fork dropout stronger, with an increased surface area connecting the two. This creates a stronger, stiffer interface, giving you a more responsive front wheel and more control. So you concentrate on the most important connection, the one between your bike and the trail. Turnkey If this seems confusing, don’t worry. You might get overwhelmed with the terms. Please give us a few minutes of explanations. The Pike comes in 120mm, 130mm, 140mm, 150mm and 160mm travel options in both 27.5- and 29-inch wheel sizes, with clearance for up to 2.8in tyres as standard.Much like the ZEB, it also boasts ButterCup technology, Pressure Relief Valves, premium SKF seals and Maxima Plush damper fluid, as well as a machined and anodised crown. Then there's the SID SL Select+, an OEM fork that gets a DebonAir air spring, a Race Day 2 damper and SKF wiper seals. There's also Maxima Plush damping fluid, and just like the range-topping fork, it's available with 100mm or 110mm of travel and for 29-inch wheels. The wins with the XC32 at this price are the 32mm legs and the 15mm axle which make steering predictably accurate and keep it stiff under braking. Suntour’s ‘ingenious’ expanding-ended Q-LOC axle can be a pain to get through some hubs but it works OK if you keep it clean. This is the mid-range damper and it comes in a few different formats. All are emulsion dampers, where the damping oil isn't separated from the air in the fork, which can lead to less precisely controlled damping when the two materials mix -become an emulsion - under more extreme use. Not having the damping oil under any positive pressure - as it is in a sealed damper - can also lead to loss of damping control due to cavitation, though this is rare. Solo Air spring

However, there are some factors to consider while choosing one. This will make things easier for you. Gently step off the bicycle without compressing the fork any further. Note the sag percentage where the o-ring stopped. If necessary, readjust the air pressure to reach your target sag position. TurnKey damper on Judy [B1] and Silver TK [A2] and Silver TK [A3], Motion Control damper on Gold RL [A2] and Gold RL [A3]. Finally, the SID SL looks like another OEM fork, but this one gets a Rush XC damper with a DebonAir air spring. This fork gets the same seals and fluid as the rest of the range.

RockShox Yari

However, this extra price has extra benefits too. It has an adjustable rebound and compression adjustment. The price factor can single-handedly alter the decision. It’s your budget that will contribute to the decision-making. The Judy chassis has been designed specifically around Boost hub spacing and compatibility with up to a 2.8in wide tyre. The one-piece magnesium lowers are tied together with a 15mm diameter Maxle, which offers a tools-free lever to remove the front wheel. Other features include post-mount brake tabs, and an integrated bolt-on cable guide for the front brake hose. The Judy Silver TK fork is OEM only, and uses cheaper steel upper tubes and a Turnkey damper.
