Then choose a home and tap Next. Google Home will start looking for available devices to connect to. Plug in the Philips Hue Bridge to your router with the ethernet cable included in your starter kit. This will connect all of your Philips smart bulbs and Motion Sensor to your WiFi network. Next, select Discover Devices. Alexa will start looking for nearby devices automatically. Move your mobile phone as close to your Philips Hue light as possible while the app looks for devices. You only have to hold your device near the bulb until you see it flash once. Once you have connected Alexa to your Philips Hue bulbs, you can use voice commands to control them. Simply say, “Alexa turn off the lights in the kitchen,” or “Alexa, dim the lights in my bedroom to 50%.” If you have colored lights, you can also say, “Alexa, turn the lights in the living room red.”

Turn on your light switch and tap Add light. The app will immediately start searching for your Hue lights. Place your Alexa device in a convenient location where you can control it with your voice. For instance, if your smart lights are in your main living area, you want your smart speaker to be within earshot of you sitting on the couch. Place it where you want - The kit comes with different mounting components so you can mount it on a flat wall, or on the inner or outer corner of a wall or post. You can also mount it on a pole or drain pipe. So it's perfect for your front garden, around your door, the garage or any place around your house where it matters Are you curious if the LIFX bulbs and Philips Hue Bulbs can work together? Read our post here to learn more. To connect your Philips Hue Motion Sensor to your Alexa smart speaker, start by purchasing the Philips Hue Bridge. You can also buy the Hue Starter Kit, which includes the Bridge and a Light Dimmer to control the color and temperature of your lights, among other helpful tools. The Hue Bridge sends a WiFi connection to your Philips products.

Next, install your smart lights and the Hue Motion Sensor. You can easily mount the device anywhere to detect motion. Sit in on a shelf, mount it to a wall, or place it on a magnetic surface by using the included magnet. Then tap Choose Group. If you connected multiple bulbs, you will have to tap Choose Device and set them up individually. You can skip the remaining steps and start using your Philips Hue bulbs without adding them to a group. If you tap Skip, you can start using Alexa to control your smart lights. However, that means you will have to use voice commands to turn each smart light off individually. Then tap Yes. If you select No when asked if your lights are Bluetooth compatible, you will be asked to set up a Philips Hue Bridge. What's required? - A 'Philips Hue Bridge' (sold separately) is required for smart control. Simply connect your Bridge, install your new Philips Hue lights and take advantage of smart outdoor lighting via the 'Philips Hue' app

Then tap More. You will see this tab in the bottom-right corner of the app under the three-line icon.

Some motion sensors are just less reliable than others. For example, the Wyze motion sensors are very cheap, but just not as reliable as some others. You can set up an Alexa routine to have a Wyze motion sensor detecting motion trigger a hue light to come on, but if the motion sensor doesn’t report, nothing will happen.
