Description

Cut the narcissus so that the stems are approximately 8cm in length. Make sure you keep the stems in water until the moment you are ready to attach them.

You can find more gorgeous daffodil craft ideas at the Twinkl Crafts St. David's Day Hub. Are there similar resources available? Make sure your moss is damp so the daffodils can absorb moisture from it. Pad out your twine wreath base with clumps of moss, attaching it using wire. You want the moss to create a firm, living wreath structure ready to add your flowers to. You can buy this part ready made if you'd prefer – see products above. Don’t forget that you can see our full front door makeover with lots of before and after pictures here.

After you attach all your daffodils, add any extra leaves you want by gluing them to the wrapped stems. There is a fantastic selection of crafts here for kids of all ages. Some will work on their motor skills such as the pipe cleaner ones but others are perfect for sensory seekers such as the clay pots. Uplevel your table decor this Easter season by making your own candle holders in the shape of daffodils. Move all the flowers to one side, as well as the top layers of the green until you are left with only the four very bottom sections. Don’t get me wrong, I love the few house plants we do have and they’re all holding up well enough so far but there’s something about fresh flowers that I can’t seem to resist, especially around this time of year when the first warm rays of sunshine start to make an appearance and I pretty much buy every tulip I can get my hands on.

Hang the wreath up outside. Make sure you keep the moss damp by spritzing regularly and generously with water. Tend to your spring wreath daily to and reposition any daffodils that may have fallen out of place. The daffodil heads are delicate so make sure your hanging spring daffodil wreath is not in direct wind, rain or disturbance. Hung on a door under a porch is ideal. I leave you with the poetry of William Wordsworth, and his poem about the beautiful spring flower which is the daffodil: Keep wrapping the stem to the bottom of the wire. Tear off the paper, add a dot of glue to the paper strip, and secure it.Daffodil flowers first start to show towards the end of winter. For many people, this makes the daffodil a symbol of spring. Like many symbols of spring, they also symbolise new beginnings, rebirth and hope. Can your class think of any other springtime symbols? And there you have it, a super simple but effective DIY spring daffodil wreath that only took about 15 minutes to make. Position the final four green pieces on top of the wreath and glue them together where the pieces overlap. Daffodils are traditionally worn on St David’s Day on the 1st March in Wales to celebrate St David, the patron saint of Wales.
