The story itself is easy to read and, at times, really funny. There were parts that really made me laugh, and parts that were a little more serious. The novel focuses a lot on main character Robin's emotions, which can often be quite up and down, and I liked that these emotions were not something to be excused or apologised for. However I wasn't sure that Robin's mental health was just due to her being lonely without a man in her life; this felt a bit too 'simple', and Robin was also so preoccupied with worrying that Lyla might be negatively affected because she's is a single mum which is a shame. I suppose that's what Robin feels is the opinions of society and I'm sure many other people sadly feel this pressure too (I don't have any kids so I guess I can't comment on this), but it feels a bit outdated. This book is raw and emotion. It is honest and hard to read at times but it is also 100% on brand for this author and really very funny in parts. There was one particular story Louise told about Darcy having a 'tell it like it is' moment that made me spit out the Red Bull I had just taken a sip of. Then the next chapter I cried a bit and that's the emotional roller coaster I went on with this book!

Pentland began her YouTube channel, also named "Sprinkle of Glitter", in January 2010. At first the channel covered beauty, fashion and lifestyle, as well as her pregnancy; [7] [8] it has since expanded to include motivational and advice videos. [7] In August 2012, Pentland began a second channel named "Sprinkle of Chatter", where she uploads lifestyle vlogs. [7] [9] Pentland has broadcast many collaborations on her channel with other YouTubers, including: Zoe Sugg, Joe Sugg, Alfie Deyes, Louis Cole, Tanya Burr, Tyler Oakley, Troye Sivan, Grace Helbig, Phil Lester, Dan Howell, Caspar Lee, Jim Chapman and others. [10] I'm watching Louise for a few years now and really love her videos. This didn't influence my opinion about the book, tho. Robin è una di noi. Fin dalle prime pagine ci sembra di conoscerla perché in un momento o l’altro della nostra vita a tutte è capitato di sentirci come lei: un casino.

UNEXPECTED JOURNEY

I was definitely right about Robin being a relatable character, she had all the normal parenting concerns, many of which I couldn't help but nod my head in agreement at. The emptiness was highlighted and described beautifully, it really touched a part of me that sometimes feels the same way. It's always good to know that you're not the only one feeling a certain way, particularly when it involves your children. YouTuber Louise Pentland puts a Sprinkle of Glitter on her Mothers' Meeting podcast". Heart . Retrieved 31 March 2020. The author's writing style was so natural, it was humorous but also incredibly insightful and it left me wanting more - I really hope to read more from Louise in the future. The style is too conversational for me because (there are a lot of parenthesis going off on a tangent!) and a lot of exclamation marks! But also we hear the main character's every thought when we really don't need to ... especially when it doesn't progress the plot!

Despite tough topics, this book was a joy to read. Louise is someone who has experienced a very multifaceted life, with many of her experiences falling outside the ‘norm’ - both in an extremely positive and extremely negative sense. As I progressed further through the book I became more and more inspired by the blossoming character in front of me, I lost count of the number of times I gave Robin an imaginary fist-bump in my mind!

She paid special attention to her size category, and her fashion advice was primarily focused on fashion for plus-sized women, particularly plus-sized pregnant women, who frequently struggle to maintain a fashionable lifestyle while pregnant. Similarly, she is an inspiration to millions of women all over the world in embracing their plus-sized bodies and instilling the belief that just because you are curvy does not mean you can’t enjoy fashion and beauty. She is never afraid to be vulnerable in front of her audience, and she has shared both her darkest and brightest moments with them. I didnt really get it, the writing felt a little all over the place and I felt like I couldn't understand where exactly the plot was going. In November 2019 Pentland announced her own podcast, Mothers' Meeting with Louise Pentland, with episodes focusing on "offering insight into the parenting styles, personal struggles, and points of view of some of Britain's best loved mums". The first episode featured Angela Scanlon and Emily Norris, and subsequent guests have included Konnie Huq, Katie Piper and Nadia Sawalha. [25] Personal life [ edit ] Pentland has identified as a feminist [14] and interviewed Labour Party leader Ed Miliband during the 2015 United Kingdom general election. [15]

Main character Tabitha is 26 and is living a pretty comfortable life. In fact so comfortable that I felt that the character read older than she was. She’s a vintage shop manager with a side hustle as a vintage upcylcler on the gram. She has a boyfriend - David, and there is starting to be talk of babies and marriage. I loved the setting of the vintage shop Tabby worked in, it was a nice setting and was a really nice idea to base the story around.
