Description

The Costco That’s It fruit bars are individually wrapped and are quite thin so you can easily pop them into your bag, lunch box or keep a few in your car. All of the bars contain 80-110 calories, plenty of fiber to keep you satisfied, and as much as four grams of protein. All of the bars are vegan, kosher, gluten-free, non-GMO, low in fat or fat-free, and contain absolutely no preservatives. That's it. doesn't mess around with the ingredients we put into our products! You get exactly what you need, without the hazardous additives. When your fruit is cooled, put it in a food processor or powerful blender and chop and mix ‘em up. Add a little bit of water to help the fruit bind if need be. By a little, I really mean a little. Less than a teaspoon. You can play around with how long to process for depending on how smooth you want your bars to be. Make the filling: Place the blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice in a saucepan over medium heat on the stove and stir gently to combine. Cook and stir for 2–3 minutes until the cornstarch and sugar begin to dissolve and the berries look evenly wet. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon zest. He also alleges that, “The inclusion of dried apple and other fruit/vegetable ingredients – powders and pieces – means water must be added to reconstitute or rehydrate them, prior to the time the final product is finished. The products do not indicate the presence of water in the ingredient list, which is misleading.

Harvest Snaps are a more nutritious option than traditional potato chips. Compared to potato chips, Harvest Snaps are baked instead of fried and contain less saturated fat and sodium. However, Harvest Snaps are still considered a processed food and are best consumed in moderation. Read the full review here. Veggie Straws are made from potatoes and are fried just like traditional potato chips. However, compared to traditional potato chips, Veggie Straws are lower in fat. They also use better quality oil than the leading chip brands which typically use corn oil and soybean oil. Read the full review here. However, the nutrient concentration comes along with the downside of sugar concentration. Dried fruit is sweeter, which is nice taste-wise, but it shouldn’t be eaten as often as fresh fruit. Think of it as a really healthy treat. That's it. also has a newer, trendier upgrade. The three flavors include Apple+Cinnamon, Apple+Pear+Ginger, and Apple+Mango+Chili. Each contain a spicy element to up the flavor an extra notch. The apple with cinnamon adds a nice, warm touch. When heated slightly in the microwave, it was reminiscent of apple pie. Cool baked bars completely, just like you would let a pie cool completely. If you cut the bars into squares while they are still warm, they’ll completely fall apart. If I’m serving these at a party or event, I prepare them the night before just so I know they’ll cool long enough to yield neat squares. That’s it bars are made with only fruit. Depending on the flavour, That’s it bars contain one small apple, and a small amount of berries, cherries, or mango. I was hesitant to try the Apple+Mango+Chili, but after taking a bite, I was quite impressed. The mango had a tropical taste, while the chili's slight heat balanced out the sweetness of the bar. To make your own fruit bars similar to these, start with dried fruit or dehydrate some fruit on your own. Dehydration is nature’s natural sweetening and preserving process, so these dried fruit make bars that don’t need added sweetener and can be easily stored. Other nutrients: potassium 151mg (151-332mg), calcium 10mg (10-20mg), iron 1mg (0.5-1mg). All are naturally present in apples and blueberries.

Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a 9-inch square baking pan (I love this one and this one) with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to easily lift the bars out of the pan. Set aside.

A near identical lawsuit** has also been filed by the same law firms - Joshua Levin-Epstein of Levin-Epstein & Associates PC, and Spencer Sheehan of Sheehan & Associates PC - against Trader Joe's, about which the retailer has not responded to requests for comment. Dr Lewensztain: We stand by our food and our labeling Bake for about 45–55 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned and the blueberry filling is bubbling around the edges.

April 2018 - 19:17 GMT I think it's pretty obvious that there is not just an apple and berries in a bar. The manufacturers have processed fruit to make it stable at room temperature (not sure of for how long) and of course, now it is a concentrated source of calories from fructose (fruit sugar). Let's take the apple + strawberries bar for an example. In one bar (35 grams) there are 100 calories, 22 grams of carbohydrate, and 17 grams of sugar. This bar is Tiny! 35 grams is 1.32 ounces. Meager! In one whole apple (100 grams - 3.5 ounces) there are 52 calories, 14 grams of carbohydrate, 10 g of sugar. They should not be allowed to spin it to push consumers into thinking that this bar is the equivalent of eating an apple or berries. This, he alleges, sends out the message “ that the defendant or any manufacturer was responsible for taking the whole intact fruit, washing it, dicing or chopping it, then mashing it together to form the final bar, so that the product can credibly attest that it contains ingredients identified by a collective name.”Brown Sugar: I love using brown sugar in a dough/crumble like this, because of the moisture and flavor it provides. April 2018 - 22:51 GMT There are clearly not just whole apples and blueberries used to make this product. They have been manipulated to ensure shelf life and hopefully food safety. When creating an ingredient line it needs to be clear and transparent to the consumer as to what you are putting in the product. Apple powder is different than apples which is different than apple concentrate. The regulations exist for a reason... Can I Bake This in a 9×13-inch Pan? You can, but I have had better results baking a smaller batch, as written, in the 9-inch pan. If you want to make a larger batch, double each ingredient (only use 8 cups of blueberries) and bake in a 9×13-inch pan. Increase crust pre-bake time to 18 minutes. Increase the bake time after adding the filling & crumble topping to 1 hour, or until filling is bubbling.

That’s It fruit bars are available in four flavours in Canada: Apple + Cherry, Apple + Blueberry, Apple + Mango, and Apple + Strawberry. If you’re living in the United States, there are fifteen flavours to choose from. There's nothing "natural" about a processed bar, although at least there are no artificial colors, flavorings, or preservatives. But apples don't contain these things either. They should call the bar "That's Less Than It" The case is Jamison v Trader Joe’s Company and Trader Joe’s East, Inc 1:18-cv-02216 filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York,There’s a reason That’s It uses an apple a base for all of their bars. They’re pretty neutral in flavor, add a nice sweetness, and have a good texture for this purpose. The basic recipe structure for making these bars at home is 2 cups of dried apples (with the peels, cores and stems removed prior to drying) and 1 cup of your fruit of choice, dehydrated as well. I love the handheld nature of dessert bars, but remember, these are blueberry pie bars. They’regooey, juicy, crumbly, and a bit messy. So I do recommend a fork and plate… or at least a plate and a napkin. Unless you’re willing to risk purple-stained fingers and clothing! * Sally’s Baking Recipes is not liable for blueberry stains.* There’s only two ingredients in each bar and both are fruit! Costco That’s It bars are gluten-free, dairy-free, egg and nut free as well as free of soy and sulphites. They just have dried fruit in them. Scoring Note: the nutrition facts below reflect the Apple + Blueberries flavoured That’s it bar. The range of nutrition information for all flavours is listed in parentheses. See our That’s It Bar Nutrition Facts Comparison Chart for details. I don’t like the blueberry and strawberry bars. The strawberry has a strange bitter aftertaste. The flavor of the blueberry is nice but is has an off-putting texture, almost like bran has been added to the bar.
