We work separately - he’s in London and I’m in Glasgow - but he sends me letters with lovely funny pictures on the envelopes. Lift the flaps and join in the fun with this bestselling preschool classic, Fox's Socks by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, creators of The Gruffalo. Celebrate their unending appeal with Fox's Socks, a beautifully produced board book with a gorgeous shiny-foiled cover look. This book takes on the story of a fox who has lost his socks and goes around the house trying to find them.

I really enjoy getting the children in the audience to help me act out the stories and sing the songs. From the creators of The Gruffalo and The Snail and the Whale, this is the warm and funny flip-flap tale of poor old Fox, who has lost his socks. The story rhymes, which I find to be useful in a child's story, but the rhyme scheme can be a bit clunky if you pause while trying to open the flap for each reveal.

Fox can't find his socks, and you must help him by lifting the flaps to see if his socks may be tucked away in cabinets, under rugs, or any other number of places, except you already know that they aren't there, and exactly what is, because this book gives it away every single time! With sturdy flaps on every spread and rhyming stories that are a joy to read aloud, the Tales from Acorn Wood series has been delighting both parents and toddlers for over twenty years. He was the illustrator for Julia Donaldson's first picture book, A Squash and a Squeeze - the start of a hugely successful partnership. At school he was good at art, but didn't think of a career in illustration until he won a cuddly purple cow in a drawing competition.
