Description

Now that we’ve gotten the individual positions of the Celtic Cross tarot spread, we can start working on developing the stories that develop within this complex 10 card tarot spread. The Cross vs The Staff Placed above the ninth card, the final card of the Celtic cross tarot spread shows the “outcome.” However, Monahan notes, “This is not a hard and fast prediction but more to show where the energy is heading.” We all have free will, and the beauty of tarot, she adds, is that you can change your approach and energy in any given situation, and, in turn, achieve a different outcome. 3. Make the Celtic tarot cross spread your own

Move beyond the fear that surrounds death. Explore your own attitudes toward a profound but often taboo subject. Discover within yourself life-affirming beliefs about every state of existence. Written by a Druid priest who has worked in the mortuary profession for over two decades, The Journey into Spirit illuminates the three realms of existence physical, spirit, and soul/source meditating upon each realm with stories from the author’s close work with death and his deeply personal spiritual experiences. How is the subconscious influencing the querent’s hopes or fears? This is an especially useful combination if the Hope/Fear card is unclear. This book is a guide to the process of death and offers a soothing hand that seeks to comfort the spirit and offer answers to the unknowingness of death. This sequential, deeply personal journey follows the author's life through the kingdom of the dead and into the realms of the spirit. Based on his experiences working in the mortuary field, the author found himself on the path of spirit in the Celtic tradition and developed a deeply spiritual understanding of the process of death and the questions that it evokes.Guard me with a circle of white, joyous light – encapsulated in shimmering purple – and send my grounding cord deep into the Earth. The cross can also be split into a different two sections - the horizontal cards, including the central axis, displays time, while the vertical cards express consciousness. Reading both horizontally and vertically, we see these as two smaller spreads that give us the past, present and future - as well as unconscious, self, and conscious.

Like the majors, the minor arcana are also re-named and are known as the Story Cards. The changes are more complicated here than with the majors. Each number card takes on a title based on one of the genres of the Celtic storytellers, such as auguries, dialogues, adventures and quests. This does take some time to get used to and fortunately the numbers are also printed on the bottom of the cards. Court cards take on the titles of King, Queen, Warrior and Woman. The four suits have also been re-named as Battle (Swords/Air), Skill (Wands/Fire), Art (Cups/Water) and Knowledge (Disks/Earth). The story cards depict scenes from Celtic stories and myths and do not show the emblems for each suit on the card. Within the companion book a very brief overview of the relevant story or myth is included. In the divinatory and soul-wisdom sections the meaning given seems to be closely aligned with the traditionally understood meaning of the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition. Unfortunately there often seems very little (if any) link between the assigned story and the divinatory meaning given. This becomes difficult as the illustrations on the card relate directly to the story or myth. Revelations - This is the integration of the principle of each suit. It represents attainment and achievement. This is where things get interesting! Many Tarot readers first learn to read Tarot by interpreting each card. But it's when we look at the dynamics between the Tarot cards and get into the story of the Tarot reading that the magic happens! Many of these Major cards have decorative circular wheels or windows above or behind the characters. The Magician stands in front of a zodiac wheel, its energies controlled by a Star of David, that holds within it his Cup, Coin, Wand and Sword. In The Star, this wheel is a cosmic mirror studded with seven stars. It holds a a pentagram, which in turn holds another pentagram. A white dove hovers over it. The naked woman draped in a purple cloak is a personification of Aquarius, symbol of universal consciousness. In addition to Cups and Pentacles, Wands bring new creative energy and Swords are typically hard processes that bring truth to light and transform the querent’s perspective or ability. In addition to the smaller sections within the Celtic Cross spread, we can also look at some other pairs that may be particularly helpful to compare and contrast. These cards have special relationships that can give another dimension to the reading. We’ll break down the Celtic Cross in the same way we do with other standard tarot spreads, by looking at the positions of the cards. Every number from one to ten (and beyond, for court cards and Major Arcana) encapsulates its unique essence. For instance, Fives tend to be ambassadors of conflict, unrest, or loss. They bring with them an air of tension, but also the potential for change and growth. Sixes, on the other hand, radiate with the warmth of healing or evolving energy, echoing harmony, balance, and a sense of reconciliation. Now imagine a pearl-white light emanating from your heart, enveloping your body and illuminating the area around you - brightening all shadows and darkness. Visualize a purple shimmer rippling through the white light as it calms and protects you. Know you are safe - grounded to the Earth and shielded by warm, loving, joyous light.
