About this deal

The story features a protagonist, Robin, who is investigating the fate of her sister that had previously landed on the alien planet, 4645B. In her investigation, she becomes entangled with an alien known as a Precursor, a species mentioned heavily in the original Subnautica game. Subnautica is a survival action-adventure game set in an open world environment and played from a first-person perspective. The player controls the lone survivor of the crashed spacecraft known as Aurora, Ryley Robinson, as he is stranded on a remote ocean planet known as 4546B in the Galaxy of Andromeda. Of course, there are still some significant challenges here. While you start off in the appropriately named Safe Shallows, home to mostly friendly fish and readily available materials required to craft basic items like swim fins and oxygen tanks, you soon need to venture farther afield. The world consists of many biomes, distinct geographical regions with their own flora and fauna. Most of the better goodies in the game come from more extreme and far away places, which forces you to steadily upgrade your equipment to handle greater depths and highly aggressive sea life that look more like monsters of myth than fish at your local aquarium. When compared to the first Subnautica game, Below Zero is really a small, iterative improvement, and as a result, probably won’t have the same impact on returning players. However, especially for newcomers to the franchise, this is the perfect jumping-in point. Below Zero is a captivating, addictive and thrilling experience that hits every height of the original, and then some. The overall graphical presentation hasn’t really been lifted from what we see on 2018’s Subnautica. In fact, a lot of the models look fairly dated for a Playstation 5 title. That being said, the quality mode does give a nice sparkle to the screen, and generally, this is a game that works acceptably well at 30 FPS. The framerate mode really relies on the games wonderful art style to inspire your awe, and by and large, that’s enough to keep you engaged. Craft or Crumble Subnautica review". PC Gamer. January 29, 2018. Archived from the original on April 18, 2021 . Retrieved May 14, 2021.What really happened to your sister? Who were the aliens who came here before? Why were they on this planet? Can we find solace from grief in truth? Below Zero extends the story of the Subnautica universe, diving deep into the mystery introduced in the original game. In terms of what you perceive, there really isn’t a lot to distinguish the quality mode from the frame rate one other than the obvious frame rate improvement. Moreover, there’s hardly much visual improvement over the PS4 version either. All of the texture detail on PS4 and both modes of PS5 appear to be identical. Similarly, it would appear there hasn’t been any improvement to the native resolution, which is unexpected. For the most part, the Quality mode seems to hold 30 FPS very smoothly. However, the frame rate mode is a different story. The game tends to stutter as you move into different areas, which, at a guess, is related to how data is being streamed in as you transition. Not only that, but Subnautica has an unfortunate amount of screen tearing in framerate mode. It is particularly noticeable in enclosed spaces, such as your created bases, and the regularity of these occurrences can be a bit jarring.
