Now.” “Now?” I asked around his finger. “Now.” He confirmed. “Right here.” Damn. He wasn’t playing around. I pulled my lips off his finger. “Alright, let’s do it. But I do have one question first.” “What?” he growled. My lips lifted in a smirk. “So excited to answer,” I drawled. He took my face in his hands. “I want your thoughts in my mind and your soul in my chest again. I don’t want to wait.” Honestly could be my favorite book I’ve read this year. I haven’t felt real feelings from a book in a while 🥺🥺🥺 HIGHLY recommend especially if you like epic novels/historical fiction. Something I often struggle with in Jacqueline Wilson books is the characters refuse to engage with Social Services or any sort of support. A good message for children in this book would’ve been about how it’s okay to ask for help, and how there are charities out there who can give support. Yeah, okay. Something different to the dross that is usually aimed at teenagers, but I don't like the writing style or narration at all. Jayni mengubah namanya menjadi Lola Rose.

One of the most devastating genocides in human history is highlighted in Lola Jaye's THE ATTIC CHILD, in which a young boy is taken from his Congolese home and thrust into a European world which, at worst, hates him, and at best, sees him as a living curiosity. Through sheer force of will, Dikembe/Celestine not only survives, but finds a way to love and thrive despite all that is set against him. As his story intersects with the parallel story of a young woman desperate to make sense of her own trauma, the reader explores universal truths of love, narrative, and survival. My heart bled as I bore witness to Dikembe's coming of age, and it nearly burst when he reached his ultimate triumph. Lola Jaye has surpassed her goal to "give a lion a voice," resulting in a world, a shared history, and a truth that is laid painfully bare. When the baby is finally here, Lola takes on the role of big sister—she helps her mommy and daddy around the house and tells Leo stories to cheer him up when he cries. Lola Reads to Leo proves that it’s never too early to become a reader!

With a clever, outgoing protagonist, this book is perfect for kids starting school. The beautiful illustrations, minimal text, and racially diverse cast make this picture book a joy to read. I would definitely recommend this addition for all lovers of the Lola series! If you're expecting to have a second baby, this would be a cute story to read to the first one. Lola is a soon-to-be big sister of Leo. He is born part way through the story and the family has to change their routine to comfort him. Throughout this story, Lola reads to Leo; a different type of story for each occasion. It's a sweet way to role model how an older sibling should behave. It even gently reminds the parents to not be too busy for their eldest child.

I was given this novel as a birthday present many years ago and I couldn’t remember if I had read it or not so I decided to give it a go. I had previously been a huge fan of Jacqueline Wilson novels in my younger years, and I can recall being very fond of her books so I wanted to see how this would compare also.

As I sit here in pieces and with tears in my eyes I’m wondering how I can give this wonderful and powerful book the credit it deserves but I know I can’t because I don’t have enough words it truly is an amazing read.

Lola: A right? Pfft. Yose-mite, I just got a perfect score on my written test. I think I can do a little more than take a right. Lola Jaye is an author, registered psychotherapist and speaker who has penned six novels and a self-help book. I love the illustrations. I was thrilled to see a picture of Leo nursing. “It turns out he is just hungry. Lola holds her best bear story while Mommy feeds him. She and Mommy read it together.” It is obvious that Lola is still a very young child. As Leo gets his diaper changed, Lola is sitting on a potty chair, and reading “him her best potty book.” It’s so cute. This was interesting. When I read the synopsis I was like "mmm, abusive dad, got it. Wait... cancer too? That seems a little bit much." And that's what it was. Too much. The author's prologue suggests that the book is mostly about the cancer, but that's not the case at all. And while Wilson did the abusive dad stuff well, the cancer stuff was not as good. It seemed like an add on, sort of an excuse to get Auntie Barbara into the picture.I really enjoy Jacqueline Wilsons writing style, I find that she is an author that makes things easy to follow and understand. Putting myself in the shoes of a child reader, I feel like I would understand this book and not struggle to follow any aspects of it. As a child the themes weren't as obvious to me and were in fact very subtle, however as an adult their purpose and importance screamed out to me. Like Humans, Trees tell a Story. In 9 Months, they go from nakedness to half dressed, to fully flourishing bloom. Then they repeat the process all over again.” Lola reads story books to her new baby brother Leo, and even though Mommy and Daddy are busy, they still have time to read to Lola at bedtime
