This author is so talented, in fact, she made so many of the unlikable secondary characters likable for me, which is sometimes a difficult task. The story itself and the writing was so fantastic. If I would have loved the actual romance more, it would have easily been a full five stars, but this still was a great read overall and a strong 4-4.5 stars. This is my first book by this author and it definitely won’t be my last! Deny it all you want, but you don't stalk and chase (in both sober and drunken states) after a girl as much as Tate did it just to talk about your dead brother. No other ulterior motives, none. 🌚 The way he kept excusing his inadequate behavior and used the dead brother as a pretext to see her over and over again?

He moved toward my lower body. “I’ll be very careful. The chances of your hymen being affected by this exam are absurdly low, so try to relax. Now spread your legs for me, Charlie.” And let's not forget the way I screamed when it was revealed that literally THE BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN was plagiarised from lil old Kellan. How old was he when he wrote it? Five? A fetus? 🤣🤣 anyways, this review took so long to write because i always find it hard to explain why i loved a book, roasting is just so much easier 😂 i think this book is worth the read, especially on a rainy day. yes it's long and for some people, it may drag, but i really enjoy long books (zodiac academy and binding/keeping 13 girls will get it), and this was a slow burn at its finest. Parker S. Huntington is a stay-at-home dog mom from SoCal, where she discovered her allergy to rain. In spite of her shoddy attendance record and strong aversion to homework, she earned a B.A. in Creative Writing from the University of California, Riverside and an A.L.M. in Literature from Harvard. When she’s not writing or exchanging food pics with her friends, she’s binge-watching an unhealthy amount of Netflix while curled up with her dogs. Here’s a life lesson I’d never wanted to learn. Our secrets are nothing but a string of memories we wish to forget.”

I kid you not (just look through the first quote attentively, will you (not)), when those two were in the same building, Tate couldn't keep his eyes off the girl. No reason was valid enough to stop the staring: I need to mention one more thing, so please bear with me. I want to talk about the infamous OB-GYN scene. You all know what I’m talking about. A friends-to-lovers dark romantic comedy full of murder, chaos, and spice, unlike anything you’ve read before. Here we have the stereotypical emo suicidal boi, the sarcastic and colder older brother who ends up becoming a rich doctor, and the desperate child with sissy issues. Emo and desperate child meet. They form a pact to meet once a year in the roof. Shit happens. Emo boi dies. Desperate child cries. Fast forward a couple years. Desperate child walks into older brother having sex with a woman. She stays while he stares right at her. She mentions she knew suicidal boi. Older brother is suddenly interested. The two aren’t friends but they’re also not enemies. They both carry guilty. So, they form a pact and decide to finish some manuscript emo suicidal boi decided to leave. They catch feelings or whatever. A manuscript is completed. The end. I wish I had cancer. Or some other grand battle. Dementia, stroke, organ failure. If I lose those fights, I’m brave. But the thing I’m battling is my mind. And if I lose, they’ll just call me weak.” That night in a field of planets absent of stars, he granted my demands, kissing me until my lips bruised and the sun rose over the horizon”

While reading the second half of the book, I kept thinking that this girl must have taken a few classes from the internet guru on how to bring raging alcoholics and their decadent sons out of depression. And once Tate is finally introduced in the story, Charlie already has this idea of who he is, and their first meeting doesn’t exactly help his case. Early on, in the book, we start to get more of who Tate actually is and he’s such a complex character, just like Charlie. They both wanted what was best for their siblings. And they carry the guilt of the mistakes they made with their siblings heavily. It really made for an interesting dynamic with the two. Even if they didn’t initially like each other in the beginning, Charlie and Tate were forever intertwined with each other and I think they were the only two people who understood each other’s pain. Then you have Tate, Kellan’s older brother who is a rich OB-GYN and apparently, the best. He’s sarcastic (which I loved), and he says he’s cold yet:It wasn’t what he said but the way he said it that made my eyes snap to his in horror. He’d called me Charlie, and his voice was no longer taciturn. It had the faintest touch of a smoky, bossy tint. Last year, I binged read all of Parker S. Huntington’s books and had an absolute delight. And ever since then I had been patiently waiting for a new release from her. When Darling Venomdropped, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I went in completely blind and with full trust of the author. Venom 2 certainly ups the ante with its new primary protagonist, Carnage, who aptly delivers an hour and a half or pure mayhem onscreen. One of the charges leveled against Venom's narrative was the underwhelming villain Riot, who never appeared a true threat to Venom's existence despite Venom star Riz Ahmed's protestations to the contrary. Carnage's inclusion certainly fixes this issue, with Venom's first assessment of the red symbiote confirming that he is indeed more powerful than anything Venom audiences have been subjected to before. Playing into Carnage's canonical potency is a smart play by the Let There Be Carnage writers, who confirm throughout Venom 2 that Carnage and Kasady's mutual love for violence is what makes them such a force when bonded. Interestingly, this is also how Casady/Carnage are defeated, with the Venom 2 writers showing a deft turn of irony as Venom uses Shriek's sound to split the symbiotes from their hosts before killing Casady and Carnage. More often than not, romance books I stumble upon feel almost rehearsed, like another scene I had witnessed with countless fictional couples in other books. There is often nothing special or personal about the relationship. In this story's case, I ended up believing in their love.

Moderate: Drug use, Death of parent, Emotional abuse, Toxic relationship, Medical content, Drug abuse, Dysphoria, and Toxic friendship Although Keelan was there for only a little time in the book, he still was the most tolerable character. Darling Venom” is the first stand alone novel and was released in the year 2021. Charlie’s first love ended with tragedy, while her second started with his brother. Charlie was never supposed to be up on the roof that Valentine’s Day. Neither was school designated freak, Kellan Marchetti. They met each other while on the verge of ending their lives. Somehow, the tattered strings of their tragedies tangled up and tightened into quite the unlikely bond. Well, well, well, this was a disaster. Not only was this clichéd and stupid but also highly boring and lengthy. don't let these funny scenes let me take away from how good this book actually is. the characters were really well written and I even cared about the side characters lives to the point where I hope Charolette's sister and her love interest get their own book.I wondered how the hell I’d noticed that. Hannah got mad every time I’d failed to notice a new haircut, dress, or piece of jewelry. Then you have the time Charlie walks into the clinic and basically demands that Tate gives her an appointment for her boss. She’s mad he isn’t available because it’s Valentine’s Day (aka the day Kellan died) so she’s mad because she thinks he’s playing around on a day like that. After walking in on him doing the deed and taking care of it, she expects him to give her an appointment. this book was instead a journey in how the death of a person can ultimately shape the lives of others, people who haven't even had the chance to meet him. with that, I want to give a big props to the author for the beautiful note at the beginning of the book
