Description

Shoulder pain may be a common affliction, but the good news is that this can be cured or relieved through rest and ice therapy. Bursitis – This type of pain is also known as rotator cuff tendonitis. When shoulders are subjected to repetitive motions, it puts pressure on the bursae around the joints. This is what causes pain in the shoulders. The bursa protects the tendons in the shoulder, and when the shoulders get overused, the bursa gets irritated and inflamed. This not only causes pain but also swelling and tenderness in the area. Rest – As soon as you feel the pain in your shoulders, you must stop physical movements that involve your shoulders, especially lifting or rotating. A frozen shoulder may take two to nine months to develop. Although the pain may slowly improve, stiffness continues, and range of motion remains limited. Anatomy of a frozen shoulder

Compression is the most important aspect of first aid treatment. This can reduce swelling and improve blood flow through the injured part of your body. Compression usually involves wrapping the injured area to prevent swelling. When applying compression, wrap the affected area with an elastic medical bandage (like an ACE bandage). The Arthritis Foundation recommends using heat in the form of warm compress or bath for stiff joints and achy muscles. Warmth opens blood vessels, allowing more blood flow, nutrients, and oxygen to get to the damaged joint tissue. They recommend cold therapy for swelling and redness, as cold decreases blood flow and inflammation. Our shoulders are the most flexible joints in the body. The normal range of motion for healthy shoulders is about 90 degrees. This is much more than how we are able to move other joints in our bodies such as hips, ankles and wrists. Yet it is also due to its mobility and flexibility that makes a shoulder weak and vulnerable to pain and injuries. With frozen shoulder, the shoulder feels stiff, painful, and has limited motion in all directions. Symptoms of a frozen shoulder include Be it shoulder or the elbow, the Velcro strap makes it easier for ice compression to be customized.

To treat most forms of minor shoulder pain, the tried-and-tested remedy of ice therapy should be your first choice. Ice numbs the pain and causes blood vessels to constrict, which will help reduce swelling. Cryotherapy, or ice therapy, has been practiced for a long time and works by reducing blood flow to a particular area, which can significantly reduce inflammation and pain, especially around a joint or a tendon. The goal of compression is to stop hemorrhage and reduce swelling in and around the injured muscle or joint. Compression is applied to limit the amount of edema caused by the flow of fluid from the damaged capillaries into the tissue. Controlling the amount of inflammatory exudate reduces the amount of fibrin and ultimately the production of scar tissue and helps to control the osmotic pressure of the tissue fluid in the injured area. What are the effects and benefits of compression? With the exception of pain caused by an underlying issue (as described above) and shoulder pain caused by an injury, these are the most common causes of mild shoulder pain:

This product is suitable for sensitive skin as the latex-free wrap protects damage to the skin from wearing it. Without reducing mobility, the product provides compression and support. There is no definitive answer to whether heat or cold is better, as both have their place in treating symptoms of arthritis and joint pain in general.
