Description

While on the topic of the outsole, the Altra Lone Peak 6 has a tremendous 8mm of rubber underfoot. Bearing in mind that the average is 3.7mm, that is a ton of material.

Topo MTN Racer 2: 5mm heel to forefoot with similar grip and room in the toe box. Here is a link to our review for more information: https://www.northernrunner.com/blog/topo-athletic-mtn-racer-2-review/

I believe the Lone Peak 7 uses the same foam as its predecessor, so if you have the Lone Peak 6, you’ll know how the midsole holds up. And I’d predict that the midsole will not be the shoe’s limiting factor. It may feel slightly lifeless at 500 km, but it’ll keep going for longer. It’s a deep shoe that can be made even deeper by switching out the insoles. Most running shoes on the market suffer from cramping toes and the midfoot in width; what I want to focus on here is depth. Version 6 of the Lone Peak did an excellent job offering ample depth out of the box, but I feel version 7 has shrunk a little. If you need more room, I’ve got two solutions for you. Much like the Nike React Pegasus Trail 4 Gore-Tex, the Altra Lone Peak 6 are shoes specifically engineered for off-road jogging, offering a distinctive design and excellent performance for wide-footed runners. They boast a noteworthy trait with their Zero Drop composition. This simple method, which has a cult following, helps the wearer utilise their midfoot more by keeping the heel and the tip at the same height. Additionally, they eliminate some possible injuries that come with imbalanced steps by improving one's posture.

Newly formulated MaxTrac outsole rubber and longer outsole lugs improve the Lone Peak 7’s grip on loose dirt. The lugs now measure 5mm in length—that’s about half a millimeter longer than the teeth on the Lone Peak 6. Yes, this service is classified as UK standard delivery. Please note that we can’t be held responsible for any delays once the parcel has been passed on to the British Forces Postal Service There’s also a tiny pull tab on the heel and a slightly larger one on the tongue. Anyone who knows me knows that a shoe (especially a trail shoe) without a pull tab is a deal breaker so it’s great to see one.So, what is a “zero-drop” trail running shoe? Unlike most shoes that have a slightly elevated heel from the toebox, zero-drop means the heel sits on the same plane as the toes. This creates a more balanced feel when on the trail, and it’s one of the things Altra is best known for. Rounded Toebox (Photo/Josh Kirchner)

The roomy, rounded forefoot adds more to this cosy feeling, reducing uncomfortable friction against the lining. The mesh uppers with enhanced ventilation also feature some synthetic elements on the side panel and keep the feet dry and cool during long runs while the fully gusseted tongues keep the water away. Wrapping the feet securely yet leaving them just enough room to retain the wearer's mobility, their heel cups conform with the wearer's shape, enhancing the overall stability. Nimble on Mixed TerrainAnother Altra-specific feature is its more rounded toebox, which runs in line with how the foot is naturally shaped. The wider design in front of the shoe allows the foot to splay out a bit more. The next issue is really for the people who are already familiar with the Lone Peak line. There are some inconsistencies in sizing when compared to previous versions of the Lone Peak. One last thing we need to touch on is durability. These are not what I’d call a “beefy” shoe. And while the 6.0 is incredibly comfortable, I have heard reports of how they tend to break down over time. The 25mm sole height here provides a satisfactory level of cushioning without taking away the wearer's ability to truly feel the terrain. Though not exactly a technical trail pair like the Adidas Terrex Speed Ultra Trailrunning Women, the Altra Maxtrac outsole is quite grippy all-around. Muddy terrain might require a different pair, but on mixed terrain, they should be more than okay. The midsoles are pliable, providing a more reactive feel that allows the feet nimbly. In general, this 6th iteration has improved the general performance considerably compared to its predecessors. Lone Peak 6: Price UK

The Lone Peak 7 for men comes in wide fit, but rather than a purely increased width, contains a little more volume in the upper. There are a few notable features we need to touch on. Some of these elements were carried over from past versions, and some are specific to the Lone Peak. Nonetheless, these are what separate the Altra from the rest. Zero Drop (Photo/Josh Kirchner) In short: The Altra Lone Peak 6.0 is easily one of the best zero-drop trail running shoes out there. From comfort to overall functionality, it’s a step in the right direction for anyone looking to burn up the trails. Altra Lone Peak 6.0 Review Overview (Photo/Josh Kirchner) Because of this, I would choose the wide in the future, and I wouldn’t consider my foot overly wide, just average, but bare in mind I’m a barefoot runner used to wider fitting shoes.

midfoot and doesn’t have the same volume in the upper and the ‘slim’ last is the narrowest, certainly offering a much snugger fit than the ‘original’.
