It was good to see how inclusive it was, but I would still very much recommend reading it with a critical eye (not that you shouldn't always do that).

Feminism has been known to make the odd person or two nervous, and certainly generates a sizeable amount of controversy. The book was produced in partnership with Girl Up, the UN women's foundation, with 10% of the RRP donated to the charity. Some of the essays didn't even really seem to be directly about feminism at all, but rather on only tangentially related issues--for example, the reason why the cover of this book is a specific shade of pink.This week on the Feminists Don't Wear Pink podcast, Scarlett Curtis meets actor Keira Knightley whose raw piece on childbirth in the book attracted so much attention last year when the media immediately pitted against the Duchess of Cambridge who gave birth on the same day. The end message of the book is to take action and push feminism and yet after reading, I’m still not sure how.

Olivia Perez made a list of "10 Ways to Support the Women in Your Life" that was heartfelt and sincere with a dash of humor ( "9. This book also provided suggestions for further reading (a nod to "Our Shared Shelf") and your own personal writing space to focus on your own thought and think of your own journey with feminism. It's a down-to-earth, funny, inclusive and non-judgmental exploration of what feminism means to many different people.But it's very much Feminism 101, and even though I fully believe being an inclusive feminist is an ongoing process, this book was a little too basic for me at times. Often funny, sometimes surprising, and always inspiring, this book aims to bridge the gap between the feminist hashtag and the scholarly text by giving women the space to explain how they actually feel about feminism.
