Description

It sat perfectly over the front and formed a great extension, meaning what we had much more camping space no matter what the weather was going to throw at us.

First pitched in snow it worked perfectly, Woke up to torrential rain once that had turned the ground into a pool, the groundsheet stood up to the task and didn't let a drop of water through. The only gripe I really have is that the height of the taller end of the tent(entrance end), is just slightly too low. When you are underneath this shelter, it feels so spacious and Coleman make an even bigger XL version. There are clips which were easy to apply, but there are 'carabiners' which clip on where the poles cross.Everything ok, except instructions could be a little more explanatory ie shelter comes with tensioning straps at the base of each pole, which we found came fully engaged after struggling to fix all the retaining clips. I was the only tent camper and I was allocated a patch of grass with adjacent hard-standing for the car. It’s at one end of the Pennine Way, so I’ve been aware of it for donkey’s years but expected that I would only ever go there if/when I got round to walking that long distance path.

Been used in some very windy conditions, force 7 and has survived really well, got a bit wobbly but stayed up. I am 6ft 6 in height and one of the biggest problems I have when camping is the sleeping area is too short. Some shelters are real rubbish and you just know that they are going to fall or be blown to bits at the slightest gust. The fibreglass poles are fragile and I'm not sure how well it will stand up to heavy weather: only time will tell. From your local crag to the summit of Everest, at Tiso, you’ll find the climbing and mountaineering equipment you need. Within 20 minutes of it being put up it fell down with a slight breeze and the spike used to hold the tent up ripped straight through the fabric on the tarp. However, if you’re still on the fence and want to look at some more options, here are some great alternatives to consider.

Once pitched can’t fault this gazebo, however, even as a seasoned camper I found this really hard to pitch.Low and angled down enough to take strong winds with ease, you loose out on headroom but its no problem getting changed inside. Great for taking advantage of any slight breeze and brilliant for stargazing from the comfort of your 'bag.

It's exceptionally easy to put up although getting the flysheet tight and keeping it clear of the inner compartment requires that (a) you don't peg it too tight at the base of the poles and (b) you get the guys halfway up the poles really, really tight. The upside was it made the interior of the tent darker, so offering the occupiers more shelter from early morning sunlight, the downside was it reduced some of the airflows. A workaround is to purchase either a universal tarp, or a four-metre x five-metre tarpaulin, two king poles, and some guy lines.
