For those who admire his acting (both on the boards and the screen), which let's face it, most of us do, there are lots of amusing stories from his career, especially the ones concerning Ronnie Barker. As the front-woman of Blondie, she and the band forged a new sound that brought together the worlds of rock, punk, disco, reggae and hip-hop to create some of the most beloved pop songs of all time. He is assisted by his brother Rodney (played by Nicholas Lyndhurst) and Grandad (played by Lennard Pearce) and, in later episodes, Uncle Albert (played by Buster Merryfield).

Michael Fenton-Stevens makes a very professional job of the reading, putting a lot of humour into the anecdotes and doing a few voices sparingly, so that it doesn't distract from the text. In the 1980s, Jason developed a working partnership with Cosgrove Hall, and was a voice-over artist for a number of children's television productions. A second volume, Only Fools and Stories: From Del Boy to Granville, Pop Larkin to Frost was published in October 2017.episodes; A revival of the original series, featuring original cast members Lynda Baron and Maggie Ollerenshaw. There's lot of details and insider info on other beloved characters and happenings in Only Fools and other shows, so this is a real super treat for all the fans. Prompted by his retirement from his full-time job in the NHS, and through his continuing work in Nepal and Ukraine, Henry has been forced to reflect more deeply about what 40 years spent handling the human brain has taught him. If you have watched and enjoyed David Jason in any of his roles then this book will be of interest to you and it will not put you off him at all. The period of time when David worked with Ronnie Barker is my favourite part of the book – Ronnie Barker is another of my great heroes and I have the utmost respect and admiration for the friendship the two men shared – you can tell just how much David loved Ronnie from the way he talks about him, page after page.

Although he was thrust into the spotlight (reluctantly) in the school production, David showed dedication to a theatre group and pursued a career as an electrician before he got his big break. He tells of his early television work in the 1960s with Do Not Adjust Your Set, how he was bypassed for Corporal Jones in Dad's Army and Frank Spencer in Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, and how he eventually landed the roles for which he is best-known.But life hasn't all been so easy- from missing out on a key role in Dad's Army to nearly drowning in a freak diving accident, David has had his fair share of ups and downs, and has lost some of his nearest and dearest along the way. As is the case with most books of this type we go through childhood (born in 1940 so his main memories begin just after the war) and on to how they ended up becoming famous. He heads back to the London studios where he was given his big television break, reuniting with future Monty Python star Michael Palin, who he worked with on the 1960s comedy sketch show Do Not Adjust Your Set. But life hasn’t all been so easy: from missing out on a key role in Dad’s Army to nearly drowning in a freak diving accident, David has had his fair share of ups and downs, and has lost some of his nearest and dearest along the way. I’ve always been a big fan of David Jason – I was brought up on his shows and have watched pretty much every episode of Only Fools and Horses, Porridge and Open All Hours plus many others of the shows he’s been in.
