A Song of Me and You is a wonderful story about the things that really matter in life - family, friendship and falling in love - and a poignant reminder to cherish them while we can. She feels as if she looks shocking, her clothes are a mess and her morale isn’t exactly sky high, and there he is, Ben, her first love, standing on her Manchester doorstep after 20 years apart. Told in the unique form of two separate stories that have common characters as well as themes and conclusion, The Stag and Hen Weekend can be read from front to back or from back to front putting the reader in the driver's seat as to which story they wish to read first. Publisher Nick Sayers acquired UK and Commonwealth rights excluding Canada to the two new titles from Ariella Feiner of United Agents.

So when she opens her front door to Ben Baptiste, eight-times Emmy Award winner and lead singer of the award-winning band Bluelight, she’s stunned. After struggling through most of his twenties he thinks his career, finances and love life are finally sorted. Life isn’t a simple linear path and Helen, Ben and Adam epitomise modern relationships, family ties and difficulties, and the pressures of simply living, in a sensitive and heartfelt story that gets under the reader’s skin and affects them profoundly. Mike Gayle is nowhere near being a proper adult – even though his tenth wedding anniversary is looming; his second child is due any moment; and in less than twenty-four hours he is going to be officially closer to forty than he is to thirty. He knows Mel’s the one for him, so why is it he’d feel happier swapping “Till death us do part’ for “Renewable on a four year basis’?

He has written for a variety of publications including The Sunday Times, the Guardian and Cosmopolitan. Friendship, love, heartache and hope collide in this unforgettable emotional journey, from the author of Half A World Away. The book skillfully captures the essence of second chances at love, showing that it's never too late to pursue happiness and rekindle old flames. My heart went out for the loving, kind and caring Helen, who struggles to deal with her broken marriage and cranky teenagers kids. I did occasionally feel a little bit like Adam was being made too much the villain, because why on earth did she ever marry him if this is who he was?Helen’s situation was so unfair, that I was furious and annoyed with her prick of a husband 😡- I wished I could slap him and cheered for Helen, when she does something even better! The book follows Helen and Ben, who parted as heartbroken eighteen-year-olds and went their separate ways. I just love his style of writing and I always find his books sweep you up in the story like a warm hug.

This is an emotional and escapist read about childhood sweethearts, with great (if sometimes infuriating) characters. The publisher described A Song of Me and You as “a rollercoaster of emotions, full of love and hope, and relatable characters who will stay with readers long after the final pages". Which wouldn’t be so bad except his partner Izzy has no nine-month plans for fat ankles or trips to Baby Gap. I was also born in Birmingham — in my humble opinion the greatest city in the world with the nicest people too.If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know how much I love a Mike Gayle novel and this one certainly didn’t disappoint! He and his girlfriend have taken over what should have been their family holiday- the last one before their eldest goes off to university.

There is one part of the novel at the beginning where it resembles a French farce and this is such fun! I just finished reading the book that tells the compelling story of Helen and Ben, and I must say, it left quite an impression on me.The Kiss Quotient: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience! Twenty years later, mother-of-two-teenagers Helen is still in Manchester, a part-time primary teacher, stunned by the behaviour of her love-rat husband. Beautiful' Milly Johnson'Funny, real and unexpected, a story that will keep you hooked to the very last page' Alexandra PotterFans love this new story . In 2018, THE MAN I THINK I KNOW was selected for the first Zoe Ball Book Club and Mike was longlisted for the Specsavers National Book Awards for Best UK Author.
