Now, I have to admit, the photos printed from the camera roll are definitely better than the ones taken with the camera itself. However, that doesn’t bother me one bit. I actually enjoy using this camera more as a printer for the photos I’ve taken with my phone. The quality of the prints is incredible, on par with photos you would get from an online service. The colors are so accurate and vibrant, that it almost feels like you’re looking at the real thing. Quality Prints for Instant Memories No Memory Card Slot: The camera does not have a memory card slot, so you cannot save photos for later editing or printing.

The Mini 90 has an electronic macro setting for more creative shots, as well as two shutter buttons to make it easier to snap portraits or landscape photos. Unlike with some other instant cams, you can turn the Mini 90's flash on or off.Pro-Tip: Before printing, you can edit and enhance your photos using various filters and decorative features available in the KODAK Photo Printer application. This allows you to add your personal touch to the printed photos, making them even more special and unique. Low Photo Cost We may not have named the Kodak Mini Shot 3 the best instant camera overall, but we actually think it will be the best option for a lot of people. That’s because it takes some of the clearest photos you’ll be able to capture with an instant camera. This Mini Shot 3 uses 3×3 inch photo paper, and it provided larger and clearer photos than the competition. If you’re hoping to build a photo wall out of your snapshots, then this is a real advantage compared to the Fujifilm Instax cameras, which have much smaller prints. Other instant cameras use Zink paper, which uses heat to activate colors in the paper. The advantage to Zink is that you don’t have to worry about accidentally exposing the paper to light, as you do with Instax film. However, we’ve found that Zink prints tended to be less vibrant overall. Development Time:How long does it take the photos to develop? Is it actually instant? After taking a photo, we used a timer to see exactly how long it took the photos to fully develop.

The Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 is a bulky beast. It has a 114-mm, f/14 lens and uses only Instax Wide film for a picture that's ideal for capturing landscapes or groups of people. While the camera has a digital readout, it has fewer controls than the Mini 90.

Kodak Step Touch

That said, the biggest difference between the vast array of instant film cameras on the market is the size of the photographs that they print. The aforementioned Instax film lineup alone contains film sizes ranging from mini to square to wide. Then there are other brands, like Polaroid and some Kodak cameras, that print a more classic Polaroid-style photo that is a bit larger in size. The Kodak Mini Shot 3 Retro is a unique 2-in-1 device that combines a digital camera with a built-in photo printer. This means that you can capture special moments and instantly print them as physical photos. You can even choose to cancel printing if you’re not satisfied with the shot. It offers convenience and immediate gratification, allowing you to hold your memories in your hands right after capturing them.

Fujifilm's Instax Square SQ6 is the company's first fully analog square cam with a 65.75-mm lens. The camera features three focusing ranges: macro (1 to 1.6 feet), auto (1.6 to 6.6 feet) and landscape (6 feet and up). Typically, when reviewing a new product category, we try to evaluate at least 10 options before rendering a final verdict on the top products. However, there are really only three major brands making instant film cameras right now — Polaroid, Fujifilm and Kodak. For this review, SPY tested six instant film cameras side by side. Battery Power. Some instant film cameras require batteries (usually AA), while others have a built-in lithium-ion battery that is rechargeable but not replaceable. We aimed to include the best instant cameras that fall under both categories as they each have their merits in terms of convenience and battery life.Another difference between the two cameras is how they deal with connecting to other devices and storing photos. Pro-Tip: Take advantage of the app’s editing tools to adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, and other parameters. This way, you can fine-tune your photos and ensure they look their best before hitting the print button. Review In total, we tested six instant cameras from Fujifilm, Polaroid and Kodak. We tested each of these cameras over a period of two weeks, and we went through at least two rolls of film with each camera. Ultimately, we found five cameras that are worth purchasing in 2022.
