Excellent anti-fatigue properties compared to a hard concrete floor; no more damaging of tools or knees! How expensive is a garage floor coated with epoxy resin? The Epoxy garage floor costsdepend mainly on whether the coating is carried out in-house or whether a professional takes care of it. In general, prices start at around 24 cents per square feet. For a parking space of about 500 square feet, an epoxy resin coating costs about 120 Dollars. See below the exact quantities for each product that is supplied in our double garage floor paint kits: 30m2 Kit Contains In larger and double garages, it’s best to have two or more installers. This means one person is able to brush apply the coating to the perimeter of the room whilst the other starts from a set point internally and rolls out from there.

Old paint finishes should be removed if flaking at all and the surface should be sanded to create a texture (also known as a mechanical key) prior to applying Resincoat HB Epoxy Garage Floor Paint. When preparing for a floor coat, doing so mechanically (shot-blasting or grinding) is always advisable for best results, but if that is not possible then sanding the area or our Etch and Clean is a good alternative. After the surface has been completely abraded, thoroughly sweep and vacuum the area of any remaining dust or contaminants. For more information on preparation, please see technical data sheet. With a garage epoxy floor, you will want to add at least two coats. Allow at least 12 hours to dry between coats and no more than 48 hours. Although the floor will be touch dry after a few hours, it takes a few days to cure properly. Polyurethane floors – softer than epoxy and more elastic, PU floors are more resistant to scratches but less hard-wearing. They can cope with extreme cold temperatures. It should NOT be used with epoxy. RFC opts for a 2 component system that if installed correctly, cleaned and maintained should last a minimum of 3-5 years and beyond. Cheaper single component paints will show signs of wear or begin to flake within 1-2 years. The legal bits

Inferior floor coatings or inadequate preparation can result in paint peeling after installation. Follow these guidelines prior to installation for the best possible results: With a new concrete garage floor, you will need the slab to cure. This will take at least a month. As the concrete cures it releases moisture that will prevent an effective bond being achieved. On new concrete floors and screeds, it is also essential to remove any laitance by mechanical means. How much does it cost to epoxy a garage floor? For heavy use garages and workshops, we recommend an anti-slip additive to provide extra grip. This prevents potential accidents as epoxy floors without anti-slip can become slippery when wet. And as we know, spillages find a way of happening as does bad weather. Garage floor mats & sheet PVC vinyl flooring – PVC flooring can come in rolls or in interconnecting tiles, they are often textured and resistant to petrol, oil, and cleaning chemicals. Other tiles are available that snap together making them relatively easy to install and providing some protection. What’s the difference between garage floor paint and garage epoxy floor coatings?

Benefits of Epoxy floors for garages

Our fast cure epoxy garage floor paint is perfect for time-critical jobs, meaning minimal downtime and less disruption. The rapid 2.5 hour cure time (at 20°C) allows you to install a three-coat system (primer, followed by 2 coats of epoxy floor paint) in 1 day. The epoxy is available in a great choice of colour options and can be used with our anti-slip additives. Ideal for both DIYers, commercial floors, installers & more this coating boasts an incredibly durable design that will last for many years. Generally speaking, epoxy is paint. Paint is seen as a liquid that once put on a surface becomes a solid film. However, all types of paint are NOT epoxies.
