I would have loved to read this as a child, and I could really see how this book teaches to be patient with situations or people you might not understand straight away. Furthermore, it introduces well-known thinkers in a very accessible way, which was not boring at all! Support authors: If you like this and can afford it, consider buying the original, or supporting the authors directly. Berkun’s hard-won and simple philosophy, culled from years of lectures, teaching courses, and hours of appearances on NPR, MSNBC, and CNBC Scott is an inspiration to read and follow. And this book balances the weight of philosophical ideas by being light, practical and personal.

At some point, all creative tasks become work. The interesting and fun challenges fade, and the ordinary, boring, inglorious work necessary to bring an idea to the world becomes the reality.” A "file MD5" is a hash that gets computed from the file contents, and is reasonably unique based on that content. All shadow libraries that we have indexed on here primarily use MD5s to identify files. What I like about this book is the positive energy it bring about. It’s not just about the knowledge, it’s about how you use the knowledge to understand yourself, understand people and make a better connection with the world you’re living in.

Before readingBig Ideas for Curious Minds it had never occurred to me to even begin to talk to LP and Little Man about philosophy and, honestly, when they both ask those big questions I always found it hard to answer or to know what the right answer is. But, this book has taught me, and LP, new ways of thinking and new ways of being. I know that going forward when the children ask a question I’ll embrace it, and open up a discussion about it. Often in life there are no right or wrong answers just curious minds and that is definitely something worth cultivating. This book uses the beloved characters Frog and Toad to introduce young readers to philosophical ideas in a charming and relatable way. This is a book designed to harness children's spontaneous philosophical instinct and to develop it through introductions to some of the most vibrant and essential philosophical ideas of history. The book takes us to meet leading figures of philosophy from around the world and from all eras - and shows us how their ideas continue to matter. An engaging story that helps children grasp fundamental philosophical concepts through Plato Pig's adventure in a world of ideas. With engaging scenarios and activities, it stimulates critical thinking and wonder in young minds, inspiring them to explore the depth of their own curiosity.

Big Ideas for Curious Minds - The School Of Life

Introduce young minds to the fascinating world of philosophy with books designed especially for kids aged 8 to 13. These philosophy books for kids are like magical portals that whisk children away on thought-provoking adventures. This fascinating book will help you see design everywhere and question why it works—or why it fails” – Ellen Lupton, curator of contemporary design at Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum The book functions as an ideal introduction to philosophy, as well as a charming way to open up conversations between adults and children about the biggest questions we all face.

Some call this wisdom, in that the wise know what to be thinking about, whereas the merely intelligent only know how to think. The focus of these chapters are incredibly meaningful, some of my favourites include 'People are unhappy, not mean', 'Learn to say what s on your mind', 'Good things are (unexpectedly) hard' and 'Politeness matters'. The book has been written by the fantastic School of Life and it is suggested for curious minds aged 9+. I think most adults would also find these ideas incredibly helpful to reflect on; who doesn't need reminding that when someone is angry, maybe it's not you who is responsible?" Louise Treherne, Role Models Mindfire makes a big title promise - big ideas for curious minds. In my opinion, Scott Berkun falls far short of that promise. A better title would have been: Very Well-Written Essays by Someone Who is Smart and Pretentious. Everything we use, from our homes to our smartphones, from highways to hammers, was designed by someone. How did they decide what was good for the rest of us? What did they get right and where have they let us down? And what can we learn from the way these experts think that can help us make decisions in our own lives?
