Introducing the MinisForum HX99G Mini PC: Unleash Your Creativity and Gaming Power Experience the Ultimate Performance AMD Ryzen Due to a technical difficulty, we couldn't benchmark the HX77G, something we really wanted to do. What this system promises is the computing performance of the AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS, an eight-core hyperthreading CPU mashed with the video processing capability of the AMD Radeon RX 6600M. Removing four screws hidden under the rubber feet makes it possible to remove the top of the HX77G and then remove a metal frame to have full access to the mainboard. Our review system came with 32GB of Corsair branded DDR5, but these 16GB modules can be removed to upgrade this machine to 64GB if required.

At 4K we can see the HX99G mini PC for gaming in third place with the NUCXi5 and i7 taking the lead. We continue the MinisForum HX99G review with an overview of the technical specifications and some tests. CPUIt looks like the 30 series graphics cards are better at 4K resolutions than the 6600M on the HX99G. Cyberpunk 2077 That’s the HX99G’s final charm. It’s so flexible with its software given its hardware that you can run whatever OS you want on it and you should be fine. Minisforum Neptune HX99G review: Verdict As for the storage, users can build their own RAM up to 64 GB. Besides the default M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD (up to 2 TB) slot, an extra M.2 2280 SSD slot (Support NGFF SATA or NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD) is also provided for expansion. Granted, you can do something similar with Windows if you set up auto-login and get Steam to auto-launch into Big Picture mode. I tried that, too, but it was not a smooth or seamless experience. I much preferred the Linux route.

During the synthetic performance comparison, our test unit places only in the lower middle of the comparison field. The age of the AMD Radeon RX 6600Mis noticeable at this point, and the successors based on RDNA-3 are getting ready. Those who still need a higher 3D performance can use the Thunderbolt connection, which is currently only offered in the HX99G of the series. We got to work and documented the performance in combination with the Razer Core X and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. With that, we achieve a performance in our comparison that corresponds to that of the Minisforum NUCXi7with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop. At the same time, you still have to make do with significant performance limitations, since using Thunderbolt, the external graphics card is only connected via 4 PCI Express lanes. What isn’t easy to access is the graphics card. Unlike a traditional PC, this hardware is another layer beneath the mainboard and connected by a custom PCIe bridge. The PC arrives without a carrying case (like we had on other Minisforum products). The bundle includes the necessary power cable, one HDMI 2.1 cable, optional base support and a frame in case you want to use this system vertically. There is however no way to mount this system with through VESA mount, so it is either standing or laying on the desk.Time to wrap up the MinisForum HX99G review with my thoughts. Straight off the bat I have to say this is a very impressive gaming mini PC! While it is a little larger than your usual mini PC, it’s nowhere near the size of the larger NUCX models which are its main competitors. A gaming mini PC should have a small form factor and the MinisForum HX99G fits into this category just fine.

Visually, there are hardly any differences between the Minisforum Neptune Series HX90Gand the Minisforum Neptune Series HX99G. The case continues to be constructed mainly from plastic, with some added small Carbon visual elements. Internally, there is also some metal, which supports the stability. The workmanship of our test unit is good, although we would have also appreciated a higher quality selection of materials. With the Minisforum Neptune Series NAD9, the manufacturer already proved that things can also be done differently. The computer includes a stand that allows you to place it vertically on the desk. But you don't have to use it, since you can also operate the device horizontally without any problems. The physical separation of the primary system and graphics modules allows air to flow through the case easily, with it being pulled in through the sides and vented through a hexagon lattice on the top. Minisforum warns you upfront not to mess with the cooler on the CPU and GPU unless you know what you’re doing with liquid metal, so I don’t recommend taking it apart. Minisforum Neptune HX99G review: PerformancePrice: The advanced features and powerful specifications of the MinisForum HX99G Mini PC come at a higher price point compared to entry-level mini PCs. However, the investment in its performance and capabilities is worthwhile for users seeking top-notch performance. The benchmark results are interesting. At 4K, the NUCXi5 and i7 models do very well, but if we drop down to 1080P or 720P we can see the HX99G performs far more competitively against the 30 series GPU’s. If 1080P gaming is what you are looking for, then the HX99G mini PC with Windows 11 is definitely the one to consider. Gaming Performance Of course, Metro Exodus and Red Dead Redemption 2 are extremely intensive, so it’s no wonder that the HX99G struggles with them. Still, you can get seriously awesome performance out of this mini PC. Minisforum Neptune HX99G review: Software The MinisForum HX99G is designed with productivity in mind. It offers a range of ports and buttons strategically placed for easy access and convenience. With a USB3.2 Gen1 Type-A port located at the front; you can connect your peripherals without hassle. Additionally, a USB3.2 Gen1 Type-C port at the front provides fast data transfer speeds and supports various USB-C devices. The rear of the mini PC features two USB3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports and a USB3.2 Gen2 Type-A port, offering versatility and flexibility for your connectivity needs.

This cookie, set by YouTube, registers a unique ID to store data on what videos from YouTube the user has seen. We've seen the Ryzen 7 7735HS before in other Mini PCs, and it's a very impressive processor offering eight cores and sixteen threads and a default TDP range of 35 to 54W. As this isn't a laptop with a battery, this version gets to use its full 54W envelope, and it also gets the benefit of not using the Radeon 680M integrated GPU but the independently powered RX 6600M.

I’m a big fan of the Minisforum HX99G. In fact, it’s difficult to find anything truly wrong with it other than some particular issues with my unit. For example, it seems like the model I received struggles with display output inconsistencies, where it simply won’t output to any monitor from any of the HDMI or USB4 ports. I never did figure out the problem, and I suspect a manufacturing defect is to blame. Compact and Portable Design: With its compact dimensions and lightweight construction, the MinisForum HX99G is highly portable, allowing you to easily set up your workstation anywhere. Its sleek design blends seamlessly into any environment without sacrificing performance. As part of the MinisForum HX99G review we run a few system benchmarks covering CPU, GPU, RAM & Storage speed. As well as different usages such as general software, gaming and video editing. This gives us some data which we can use to see the overall performance and also compare to other gaming mini PC’s.
