I enjoyed Mick Inkpen’s repetitive counting, as this encourages children to count along with Kipper, involving them in the story. Reread this story with some of the children in the local nursery class, and they absolutely loved it. Kipper’s Toybox’ is a perfect example of a follow on book for children just starting to actually read a story with you. He is one of today's most popular picture book author/illustrators and the famous creator of both Kipper and Wibbly Pig. With many attempts at counting his toys Kippers is surprised that the extra nose he counts is in fact a mouse!

Without the experience of having children of my own I doubt that I would have been capable of writing effectively for children. Kind Kipper ends up sharing his toy box with the mouse, as it is very cosy on the inside with all the toys.
