The easiest way to explain the difference between night and day is to use the sun and moon, and we thought it would be great to have a bedtime story book that helps explain the benefits of sleep. N seems to be a bit better but we would like to nip it in the bud before he gets to J’s age and is still having sleep and bed time issues which is a nightmare to deal with every night with one child, let alone two. You can choose to display the digital time or not, handy for helping to teach older children the time. Also, the key lock isn’t robust enough as my eldest figured out how to unlock it himself and change the wake up time!

We have been using a Gro Clock from The Gro Company for about 3 weeks now and it’s probably a little early for a comprehensive review but I’ve been so impressed with it that I wanted to share our experience with you. When the child goes to bed the clock turns blue and a star face appears to indicate that it’s night time, and gradually the stars around the edge disappear, indicating the hours and counting down to morning time when the clock turns orange and the sun face appears again, meaning it’s time to get up. There are so many factors that effect kids sleep that it's impossible to analyse them all, but there are definitely a few things that have helped Ethan, and I'm really hoping that they help Ivy as well. Other parents use the intercom on their baby monitor to tell their kids they have to wait for the sun. We love our Gro Clock, Boo loves to say goodnight to the sun each night and tell me that the stars are sleeping – hopefully in a little while she will start to ‘get’ that she needs to stay in bed until it changes to the sun again!

Firstly, as mentioned, we have Mr Sun which denotes wake-up time and Mr Star who denotes sleep time. For Ethan things also really seemed to improve in his sleep habits after he moved up to a big bed and was potty trained. Although it is stated that the Gro Clock is suitable from age 2+ years, we’ve been using it with 20 month old BattleKid and he has responded brilliantly to it. It is also ideal if your child needs to get up in the night to go to the toilet – it is just enough for them to see where they are going without needing the main light on.Harps is an award winning blogger who shares her remarkable journey of motherhood after experiencing post natal depression and an unexpected diagnosis of Down’s syndrome. In hindsight, I should have introduced him to Mr Sunshine during the day so he became familiar with him before bedtime. I am currently touring Primary, Junior and Prep schools in Devon, reading Master Owl meets Miss Bunny and teaching mindfulness to children aged between 5 and 11 years old.

Spending the time reading the book together is really nice and she already knows most of the words and finishes off the sentences.

So when The Gro Company were looking for bloggers to review another of their products, I put myself forward and was really excited when they picked me! The Gro-Clock is also great for helping during time changes, either before travelling to a place in a different time zone or when gaining or losing an hour in the spring and autumn. Then, use the lamp just like you would the Gro Clock, setting it to turn on at whatever time you choose, and teach them that they're only allowed to wake up when the lamp turns on. We will continue to use both the Gro-Clock and the Gro-Light for many years to come, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. I had hoped but this review could include Ivy's progress, but as I mentioned there is no point in starting with the Gro-Clock before your child is ready, it can't work miracles! The bright screen is really appealing and both Mia and Lottie absolutely love the smiley star and sunshine faces when they appear!
