Description

Many people go their whole lives without noticing anything that is afoot, amiss, or even untoward; without ever experiencing that toe-tingling, stomach-twisting sensation that a mystery is about to unfold.

With twists and turns, red herrings, dodgy witnesses, shady suspects, a gobby scarlet macaw and pesky seagulls, this has everything amateur sleuths and aspiring detectives could want. Ten-Year-old Bonnie Montgomery believes she is the world’s greatest detective although no one knows about her detective skill except her Grampa as she goes under the disguise of Montgomery Bonbon a distinguished gentleman with a French accent, fine clothes, and a moustache. The museum is full of bizarre-looking animals that the wealthy owner, the late Abelard Hornville, assembled from the remains of extinct animals that explorers sent him.Together they'll interview some dodgy witnesses, scour the scene for clues and - above all - hope no one notices that Bonnie and Montgomery are never in the same room, at the same time. I will recommend this book to everyone, I only wish the next fifteen books in the series were already published!

This book is immensely funny, with stake outs in ice-cream vans and clever parrots that help to intensify the humour and the mystery for the reader. As well as the obvious inclusion of a somewhat conspicuous moustache, the story features the assembly of a cast of curious characters connected by mysterious truths, and has a big- reveal-climax that is thoroughly rewarding. Crammed full of brilliant humour, wonderfully illustrated […] a wonderful shared read as adults will enjoy both the storyline and the delicious humour too. Readers are enlightened with detective traits like doldrums, detective activities like denouement etc which are quite informative.Sounds like the world’s best detective needs to make an appearance and discover what happened and who the murderer/thief is. But can she solve this case alone, or will she need double the detectives to solve double the murder? Bonnie Montgomery is just as good, and between them they're about three people's worth of amazing, with Mongomery's vaguely-Poirot inpsired protrayal and Bonnie's calm consideration and ability to connect the dots at a moment's notice.

She is desperate to be a detective and loves to solve clues and puzzles (and still has her own detective agency with her friends! This unlikely crime-fighting duo are the stars of Montgomery Bonbon: Murder at the Museum – the first in a delightful new middle grade mystery series. From stake outs in a grey ice cream van to mysteriously clever parrots, there is humour mixed in with the mystery to great effect for the reader. Can Bonnie, I mean Monsieur Bonbon and Grampa Banks work out what happened and find the guilty party? However it did get a little bit slow (for me) in the middle of the story, a few parts there bored me but thankfully it sped up towards the end. The reader will take as much pleasure looking at them as the illustrator Claire Powell clearly had in drawing them.
