Main line in to the building in to the isolator, short coax in to the splitter, two coax lines out labelled "modem" and "TV1" which disappear out of the bottom of the box under the floor... Anyway, this splitter should work as long as the other issues I've refered to above are dealt with accordingly:

It will look a lot better in its new home but this does mean purchasing a new 5m HDMI cable as well I know you shouldn't be messing about with the virgin media network but I have made absolutely sure I have got the correct cable marked "catv" with proper connectors (cabelcon 4.9). The SSL coax is standardised RG6 7mm cable size to fit any F-female connector. Do Virgin TV and broadband use the same cable? There could be other reasons for you not getting any video such as the 2 TVs having different HDCP capabilities. Do both TVs have the same video handling abilities? The actual fcons, the two brass coloured ones need replacing they can cause signal loss. The actual splitter is fairly new, looks like this was installed on your install. They don't always replace fcons but they can be the problem of poor signals. If you have no attenuation on your equipment you could be ok on the signal level front if you add one more splitter.

You mentioned the splitter I linked to above was a poor choice - best to look at the like for like versions that Virgin use (tratec?) or Triax? They seem to be similarly priced in all fairness (and no mention of 4 - 3.6db on those models...but if it isn't worth worrying about I won't!) The main concern is potential signal loss due to setting up a splitter between the source and the receiving devices, but in the majority of installations this is of little concern. If you had a CollectPlus letter with your old kit, just follow the instructions on how to return it. You're not technically supposed to touch the box on the exterior of the building, but you can split the feed from there as opposed to splitting it on the inside post outlet. The thing is that the surge protector is usually housed within the house and not inside the box on the exterior of the building. I didn't want to start a new thread solely on the Tivo Magic Eye solutions as there are plenty of those around (I've read a dozen threads already) but I can probably take the RF modulator out of the equation there as I would be running HDMI from Tivo to TV. So - magic eye (via existing coax) - and TV Link + power kit should enable IR/remote control of the Tivo box from the downstairs location - seems a few on here have run that sucessfully....right?!If so please can you also tell us what make and type the new box is? e.g. Scientific Atlanta, Samsung or Cisco and V Box, V+box or VHD box? In the past, when i have tried to split the internal cable the signal has struggled hence why i opted to split it externally. I used a 1 - 1000 splitter iirc The question I have is around how to cable it. I will be running an ethernet cable down to the cellar from the existing superhub, into a cupboard that will house a second router/switch, then from there to each of the rooms (probably 2 ethernet ports in each room, but maybe only 1). Whilst I am running the cat5 I want to get the cabling for multiroom in place. I had thought that the coax cable that comes from the VM feed for the second Tivo can drop down through the same hole from the main living room (where it currently enters through a hole that takes the first coax) and into the same cupboard where I could then put some sort of distribution in. I haven't decided exactly where the second Tivo will live but I want to have the option to use it in any of the 3 rooms. Is that possible? Do I need to have VM do this or can I do it myself? And what sort of cable and distribution box do I need to use? I am hoping that I can simply use some sort of cable splitter that has 1 in and 3 or more out. Is there such a thing?

The splitter has cable running out of it to the 3 seperate rooms. I am struggling to establish which cable should become the input for the splitter and from where it should connect. If anyone has any experience of this Hub 3/V6 installation and how it was done and/or any suggestions how I could get the installation I want I'd be grateful for any input. Have tried speaking to Virgin but like everyone else they are short staffed and after waiting ages for chat support the operator had no idea what I was talking about!!Below are general steps for setting up a coaxial cable splitter for your home.
