The "Villain Containment Chamber," where villains are kept in frozen prisons, is featured in the Mermalair level of Battle for Bikini Bottom and its remake. Sirenomelia (also known as mermaid syndrome) is a rare birth defect that occurs during the third gestational week. The sufferers of this syndrome are characterized by the unusual fusing of the two legs – leaving them with what appears to be a mermaid tail. Unfortunately, because of the nature of this disease and the damage that is often found in the digestive and urinary tracts upon birth, many of these patients die within days or weeks of their birth.
