Mike Majlak's profile

Honestly, I was expecting this to be a lot worse than it was. I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed certain aspects of this book and at how engaged I was throughout my reading. That being said, there were quite a few points where I wish a theme had been pushed further or I felt like this book didn't have as much emotional impact as it could have had. I only comment on the potential emotional impact because that seems to be a core goal of the book. Thisis a very powerful, inspirationalstory very inspirational because he begins with high school life, the beginning of his addiction, its effects on his life, and ends with his story today. After getting the book, I could not stop reading it. In fact, I finished it in an entire day because of his compelling story. It is compelling and attention-grabbing, and I would read this again. It is one of the best books I've ever read. Takes a severe plummet in quality around the final third / quarter. The part documenting the post-rehab years. Not exactly because of that but I understand it’s harder to make stories of anxiety in recovery as interesting as guns and class A’s. But the narrative tried too hard to counter that, resulting in cliche and melodrama. I’m sure I don’t need to explain why ending a chapter: “ I had no idea what was in store...” (yes including the ellipsis) makes me less interested to find out, not more. The prose towards the beginning , while not exactly sophisticated , could have an intelligent flourish, so it feels like the whole thing ran out of steam. While I can't call a book on such a difficult subject entertaining, Mike does a great job of detailing his slow and painful descent into the hell of drug addiction. Olray, Sarah. "Vital Signs – How Mike Majlak Overcame Addiction". Vizaca . Retrieved 29 March 2022.

I do wish that it had leaned a little bit farther into the critical research realm and out of the self help realm. And in the same vein I wish that it took more time to analyze emotion and actually showcase some of the self reflection mentioned throughout the latter half of the book rather than focusing on a detailed and linear accounting of events. Hearing, Alice. "Mike Majlak accused of lying about childhood and paying hush money to friends". Dexerto . Retrieved 29 March 2022.

He is known mainly as a social media star and YouTuber who also hosts podcast shows, but he has also dabbled in writing books that many people have found helpful. Which Mike Majlak books have you read, and what do you make of them? The author regularly calls himself a POS. Agreed. Others will listen to their story and also think so. So, we're in agreement. The extreme deranged selfishness as they made choice after choice knowing their actions harm others won't be forgiven by all readers. I will also just say that this is a painful and complicated read for family members of those who struggle with or are victims of addiction. Mike Majlak was born on January 13, 1985, in Milford Connecticut. After graduating high school in 2003, Majlak attended Fordham University but did not complete his degree. [4] Career [ edit ] Podcast Co-host [ edit ] As a result of Mike’s fascinating and relevant writing style, readers often feel as though they are traveling alongside him. Mike discusses his early life, including his youth and adolescence, and how he came to be addicted to drugs and alcohol.
