I know that a lot of people use them but to my way of thinking that is going to be subject to vibration and stress with the van bouncing on the road surfaces. If you have a 5kW heater under there the minimum running temp would be too hot to stand in the van and you'd end up turning it off and on again to allow the van to cool down a bit. The diesel heater heats fast and increases the temperature of the car within 10 minutes; it can also pre-heat the engine and clear the window's frost in no time!
