Description

Kooltherm pipe insulation can be used to insulate all types of pipework. The insulation is suitable for mild steel, carbon and stainless steel, copper pipes, multiplex and plastic pipework. Its CFC-free and HCFC-free certifications ensure that it is both energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. Phenolic foam is an insulating material utilised in a range of applications where higher thermal performance, fire and moisture resistance are important performance criteria. Phenolic foam insulation is usually lightweight, rigid but easy to install. Fire Resistance: Also with an operating temperature of -50°C to +110°C, this phenolic rigid pipe insulation could be the only pipe covering you will need for your project. Kooltherm pipe insulation is suitable to insulate both heating and chilled water lines. Due to its closed-cell structure, phenolic foam pipe lagging from Kingspan Insulation restricts moisture ingress. What's more, they also have foil facings on the outside, that act as an additional moisture barrier to the application.

Asbestos Insulation; this is one to watch out for rather than use. Older types of lagging used to contain asbestos, so handle with care. For more information on dealing with asbestos see here The closed cell structure of Kingspan Kooltherm pipe insulationmeans that it is resistant to fire and moisture. The rigid phenolic core and fibre-free construction also make it lightweight and easy to handle. Its high fire resistance rating makes it suitable for any type of pipework, including water pipes. Are you looking for a 15mm pipe insulation product you can rely upon? Then look no further than our range of 15mm pipe lagging options. 15mm is one of the most common pipe sizes found in domestic plumbing and heating systems as well as industrial applications. Any pipe that isn't insulated will reduce the efficiency of your system, and this will ultimately cost you money by allowing heat to escape into the atmosphere. Generally you will find that there are two numbers written of the lagging. These refer to the size of the relevant sizes:

Why do Pipes Need to Be Insulated?

The premium performance of the thinnest and most efficient Koolthermpipe lagging insulates pipes like no other! It is CFC-free This means you save on the energy otherwise spent to reheat water AND also save the expenses incurred by freezing pipes. In short, with the all-around performance of kooltherm pipe, you get savings all around! Make:

Additionally, this pipe insulation is supplied with a foil vapour barrier that not only stops the entry of water into the application but also reflects radiant heat thereby adding to its thermal performance. The Kooltherm Pipe InsulationSystem comprises a full range of prefabricated pipe components and accessories. Besides large-diameter pipes, Kooltherm pipe insulationalso includes tees, bends, valves, and flanges. These components are factory-prefabricated and are incredibly easy to install. Kingspan Kooltherm pipe insulation has a closed-cell structure Central heating pipes – all central heating pipes should be lagged as they go to the radiators. Eg pipes under wooden floorsFor straight runs:Measure the length of the pipe you have to insulate. Wipe the pipe surface clean and free of any oil or debris. Cut the Kingspan Kooltherm section using a sharp utility knife and slide it over the pipe. Use foil tape or adhesive to seal the ends of the insulation together. Kingspan Kooltherm is made with phenolic foam. But, what is phenolic insulation or phenolic foam insulation? Phenolic foam pipe insulation is provided with a densely cross-linked structure that makes them difficult to ignite. Kingspan Kooltherm insulation has a low thermal conductivity of 0.025 W/m*K, making it the most thermally efficient pipe lagging available. Low thermal conductivity means this phenolic foam pipe lagging does not allow heat to pass through its fabric easily.

Phenolic foam is known to have little to no effect on sound waves. It does not absorb sound waves like mineral wool or fibreglass pipe insulation sections. Therefore Kingspan kooltherm is not the right product for you, if you are looking for some acoustic pipe insulation. Can you use Kingspan pipe lagging for outdoor pipe insulation? This Kooltherm Pipe Insulation Lagging from Kingspan is an outstanding insulation option for building services and HVAC systems. Its thin and efficient design makes it perfect for both new builds and renovation projects in different sectors such as leisure, residential, industrial, commercial and institutional. Behind the pipe push the insulation so that each side of the split meets around the pipe. Then to ensure that it cannot become dislodged you should tape in in place. Sometimes people prefer to use cable ties, but it doesn’t really matter so long as the insulation is kept snugly fit around the pipe: Kingspan pipe insulation can be used to insulate all types of pipework including mild steel, stainless steel, carbon steel, copper, multiplex and plastic pipework.
